We had the good fortune of connecting with Jimie Sanchez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jimie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The skincare market is saturated but me being a skincare enthusiast, I was struggling to find a line that could help me with the issues I have had since turning 30. After doing hundreds of hours in research on skin types, ingredients for different skin types and how to start a skincare company, I was invested! I realized that all the products I was using had ingredients that were not meant for my skin type. It was a quick decision for me that I knew would be hard but I knew I wanted it. Once I make up my mind about something, Ill make it happen. I knew it would not be a cheap process and I knew I needed the best to help me create the formulas I was looking for. I hired three scientist, a manufacturing company and a marketing team. It took almost two years for me to be 100% happy with the formulas. The goal was and still is, to bring all natural products made with healthy ingredients. We strive to hold ourselves at a high quality scale deviating from the latest trends and hype ingredients. If we could, we could price our formulas at a much higher price but I felt that everyone should be able to have quality skincare without spending a ton of money. We aim to continuously make high quality products and pricing them at an affordable price.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have worked in logistics and supply chain for 12 years. I started at the bottom and climbed the corporate ladder. I know what hard work looks like, long hours, accomplishing goals and achieving them. I feel that with all the work ethic and mentorship that I have gained over the years in my career, I could put that into my own business and work hard for myself to make it successful. Owning your own business is not easy. You have a ton of obstacles to face and mountains to climb. There are times I have had to take a step back and reassess. I have learned to take my time making decisions for the company and sometimes restructuring is needed. At the end of the day, I am doing it for all those out there who struggle with their skin. Gaining happy customers who love the skin they wear because of our products, makes everything worth it and bring me back to the reason why I started it in the first place.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a small town girl type of person. I love the outdoors and being active. We live right on a Lake Ray Hubbard. Boat life is a fun life! Good music, drinks and friends is where I love to live in the summer. Going into the city is rare for me but when I do go, its for Dallas’s best sushi spot, HIbiki in Deep Ellum! Their sushi is the best I have tried in DFW. It is worth the 38 minute drive for me. Louie Louie Piano Bar in Deep Ellum is also always a great time! You seriously cannot go wrong with a piano bar. The great thing about Dallas, there is so much to do, try and see. I am always up for trying a new place! If anyone wants to recommend more to me, then tell me where and ill check it out =)

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband! He is the cheerleader in my corner always hyping me up and supporting everything I have wanted to do and accomplished. He will always find a way to help make my goals and passions a reality. We communicate very well and bounce ideas off each other. When I told him about wanting to start Truly, Teal, he did not hesitate to say yes and helped me get the process started. In fact, he is the whole reason for the company name and the color teal. He is literally my rock and the one person I know I can lean on to make it all happen! Having a great support system is so valuable! My mother is a great model of what hard work looks like and how it pays off. She is a reputable business owner for over 30 years. Seeing the way she hustles and succeeds was something I picked up and learned from her. She has been a person I have looked up to since I was a child.
