Meet Jim Cromeans | Electrologist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jim Cromeans and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jim, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
There was a need within the area to provide a permanent hair removal solution for people of color, LGBTQIA, and PCOS communities. The closest provider of electrolysis was retiring and my wife was going to lose the only real solution to her PCOS and hormonal hair growth concerns. I saw how uplifting and confident electrolysis made her feel and present herself; I didn’t want her to lose that and I wanted to provide that to more people in my area as well.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Steadfast Electrolysis, LLC is Tyler, Texas’ only permanent hair removal solution. I specialize in electrolysis for hair removal and advanced electrolysis for skin tag removal and spider vein removal.

Living in East Texas can be limiting for certain communities of people to have safe spaces that are affirming for them. I pride myself on being a person and business who welcomes people from all walks of life. I believe that creating a safe space for everyone is important, especially when working so intimately with them.

I took a leap away from technology career to focus on a business that was geared to helping people in more appreciable ways. I reached out for help from friends to develop a business plan and brand that targeted communities I wanted to reach and make myself accessible to. Tapping into a service that catered to these communities and wasn’t available within their reach has helped me make Steadfast so successful.

Changing careers and launching something new is never easy, but this new venture was pretty pain free. There was a need and I was ready and able to meet it.

I’m an empathetic and caring person. My love language is all of them, but mostly, I function best when I’m meeting other people’s needs in a way that I can see them shine with confidence and delight. Everyday I get to see this happen with my clients and it makes my heart so happy to know that I had a hand in sending them back out into the world walking a little taller and with a little less hair.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are some really great local breweries in the area that host a variety of live events, trivia, and just generally wonderful activities that are both family-friendly and not. Not to mention, they have great food attached to them.

If you know where to look, you can find some amazing places to relax and take in a show and a snack. It’s ever changing. Tyler is growing and more and more entertainment is coming to the city that wasn’t here before.

True Vine Brewery, East Texas Brewery, and Rose City Draft House are just to name a few of those. There’s also a speakeasy, The Plaid Rabbit, that’s often the talk (or the whisper) of the town.

I love to play RPG’s and have a soft spot for Boards and Bites as well as Geek World.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to give thanks, first, to my wife. Her support and trust in my ability to learn a new skill and tackle launching a business from nothing was the first step in my journey.

Second, I owe a huge amount of gratitude and appreciation to Sara Noto of notobella designs for building the business brand, online reputation, website, social media presence, booking functions, and so much more. I joke that I’m just the talent of Steadfast and she’s everything else – but it really is the truth.

Third, I want to thank all of my friends and family who let me continue to practice throughout my training and apprenticeship. They helped me hone my skill with a great amount of trust, patience, and constructive feedback.
