We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, what’s your startup story? How did you start your business?
Evolved Meals started as just a hobby, a love for making beautiful, nutritious food for my family and friends! It was also created as a need for an alternative when we were out at the motocross track! Yep, you heard that right. My husband and I have a motocross lifestyle brand and we are always out at the tracks vending our merchandise. Since we are both whole food plant-based (vegan), we struggled a lot when it came to finding food out at the tracks so I would make our food beforehand.  People would see us eating and ask where we got the food because it looked so good! Once day I decided to make 100 meals for friends and family and happened to post it on Instagram.  Within an hour I had 25 people reach out to me asking how they sign up and curious about the price! My husband and I looked at each other and said “Is this going to be a business?” After that, 100 meals turned to 400 meals and the rest has been history in the making! We are so excited so many people are loving the meals and are so interested in WFPB eating! We are heading into our 5th month and loving every second!

What should our readers know about your business?
Evolved Meals is dedicated to bringing 100% fresh, organic, WFPB meals to your door. We use no oils, no refined sugars, no chemicals or animal products of any kind. We are 95% gluten-free and we even use 100% compostable and biodegradable containers, no plastic here! We are committed to bringing our customers meals that are not only nutritious, but delicious and beautiful.  We incredibly proud of what we stand for and stand behind.

Every day is a learning curve and nothing is ever easy, but we enjoy the process. Once of our major challenges was and still is deciding to be a plastic free company and as zero waste as possible. Finding the right food containers has its fair share of issues. We know what we eat has one of the largest impacts on your health and our environment. We want to help others understand what that means and give them an opportunity to see food in a different light; teaching them how to be mindful of their choices and take all the guess work out for them.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Since the world is real crazy right now we don’t get out much so I’ve been trying to support all the local vegan businesses I can!  There is a vegan comfort food kitchen where we cook called TLC Vegan Kitchen, a great local vegan grocery store called Lucky Mouth Grocery, an incredible vegan donut girl called Follow The White Rabbit and if you are looking for beautiful desserts you must contact Sweet Gilly’s Vegan!!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d love to send out to Eat Soul Good!  They are a vegan food truck who is currently serving free food to front line workers and the community most impacted by COVID-19.  What they are doing is so amazing!!
