Meet Jessica Washington | Owner of GorJess Skincare

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Washington and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, how do you think about risk?
Before I started GorJess Skincare I worked in finance. The job was easy and it paid all of our bills, but I wasn’t happy. On the first of the month I was already thinking about what days I would call in. I knew I had a better purpose in life. I prayed & prayed! I took a step on faith and quit my job. It was so scary, not knowing what the next day would bring, but I’m thankful I had a huge support team that kept me focused and reminded me of my purpose while going to school. When starting a new chapter in life can have its ups and downs, but it’s so worth the risk.

What should our readers know about your business?
GorJess Skincare is a spa that offers customized facials and body waxing in North Austin. I pride myself in giving every client a experience that’s personalized and intimate. I want my clients to feel confident when they leave me. I feel I have been so successful from my clients. They are so supportive and they are always referring their friends and family. When I started my business it was hard. Trying to balance family, life and business is challenging. I had to start leaving work at work, so that once I got home I could focus on my family. As a small business owner I’ve learned to stay in the moment, and enjoy life to the fullest. As I grow daily I love to share experiences with my clients and be vulnerable. I want the world to know that when you come to GorJess Skincare you aren’t just getting a service, you will leave feeling confident and knowledgeable about how to take care of your skin.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite place is definitely Cali! If my bestie was visiting we are hitting up Santa Monica pier, Venice beach and Hollywood. There’s a great taco spot near Venice beach called Reds Taco…they have bomb birria tacos. Then the next day we are taking a tour to the Friday house and a few cute bars…hit up a hookah lounge or club.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
One person that has had my back from the beginning is my husbae! When I went to school all day he would pick the kids up, feed them and still made sure I was good when I got home. Once I open my business he painted, installed floors and anything else that was needed. I feel so blessed to have him as a partner.
