We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Muñoz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think risk is an essential factor of having your own business/brand. I’d definitely not be where I am had I not taken some risks. I think it’s important to weigh out the pros & cons of risks before making decisions.
Risks always come with a lesson, and I think it’s crucial to take each failure as a learning opportunity rather than a defeat.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a professional hair & makeup artist, and my passion stemmed from being able to carry this gift to transform others and show them how beautiful they truly are.
I started cosmetology school in 2012 and received my license in 2014.. I’ve worked at local salons and well known makeup stores such as MAC Cosmetics.. now, I have my own suite in Downtown Dallas overlooking the downtown streets!
It wasn’t easy, I think when you have a passion so big it’s impossible to give up.. and when you don’t give up & you remain consistent you succeed.
I have learned so many lessons on the way, I’d definitely be able to write a book! I think the biggest lesson I learned is not everyone will support you when you launch a business. There will be friends, family who don’t support you AND THATS OKAY!! Because you will find complete strangers who support you more than you could ever imagine!
I want the world to know that I really have a genuine soul and love to support others, I believe we can all contribute to one another’s success.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is a hard one! There’s so much our city has to offer!! I’d definitely go to some local markets to shop, eat & do some networking.. and of course support local vendors.
I personally like trying new places and meeting new people.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There’s way too many people to thank but first and foremost God, I pray over my business/brand daily & I believe he does everything for a reason.
Second, my husband.. his selflessness & willingness to help never ceases to amaze me. I’m so grateful for his support and dedication to helping me grow my brand.
And third, my family, friends, clients and vendors who believe in me, support me, offer words of encouragement and constructive criticism. They have all undoubtedly made a tremendous impact on my success.
