We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Koltun and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“If the plan doesn’t work, change the plan, but never the goal.” This quote encapsulates the essence of resilience, adaptability, and unwavering determination. What I find truly empowering about this affirmation is its emphasis on maintaining focus and commitment to the ultimate objective, even in the face of unexpected obstacles or setbacks.
Life rarely unfolds exactly as we envision it, and plans may need to be adjusted along the way. This quote reminds us that it is perfectly acceptable and even necessary to modify our strategies and approaches when circumstances demand it. Flexibility and the ability to adapt are key qualities for success in any pursuit.
However, the core essence of our goal should never be compromised. It serves as the guiding light, the driving force that propels us forward. By remaining steadfast in our aspirations and dreams, we maintain a sense of purpose and motivation that fuels our resilience and keeps us moving toward our desired outcome.
This quote also encourages a growth mindset—a mindset that recognizes that setbacks are merely opportunities for learning and growth. It reminds us that failure is not a definitive end but rather a chance to reassess, learn from our experiences, and find alternative paths that can ultimately lead us to success.
Personally, I resonate with this quote because it encapsulates my belief in the power of determination and adaptability. It reminds me to stay committed to my long-term goals, even when faced with unexpected challenges. It encourages me to be open-minded, flexible, and willing to revise my plans if needed, while never losing sight of what truly matters—the ultimate goal I strive to achieve.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my parents for their unique contribution to my journey, which may not be the conventional kind of support, but one that played a crucial role in shaping my determination and drive. Growing up, my dad held the same job throughout his entire life, and my mom dedicated herself to being a stay-at-home parent. They led a humble life in Michigan, content with their choices and the stability it provided.
However, I always felt a deep desire for more, and I thrived on challenges. I was determined to prove to myself and to my parents that there was a world of possibilities beyond the conventional path. When I made the bold decision to quit my job and start my own company, my dad reacted strongly, expressing his concern with the idea of leaving a job before having another lined up. But I knew deep down that I didn’t want just another job—I wanted something more fulfilling and meaningful.
From that moment, I resolved to do whatever it took to make my dreams a reality, to be self-sufficient and independent. Despite my dad’s initial resistance, his words lingered in my mind. They fueled my determination and became a constant reminder of the importance of belief in oneself. I embarked on my entrepreneurial journey, fully aware that success was not guaranteed, but armed with the resilience and drive to overcome any obstacles that came my way.
Years later, when my hard work paid off and I achieved a level of success that exceeded my own expectations, my dad’s perspective shifted. He admitted that he couldn’t have predicted the extent of my accomplishments and acknowledged that my unwavering self-belief had played a significant role in my journey. He acknowledged that my path, although different from his own, was valid and admirable.
I am immensely grateful to my parents for their unwitting contribution to my story. Their traditional values and perspectives, coupled with their love and concern for my well-being, challenged me to prove that there was more to life than the familiar and the comfortable. Their initial doubts and concerns ultimately fueled my determination to create a better future for myself.
I firmly believe that if everything had been handed to me on a silver platter, I wouldn’t have had the same drive or the same hunger for success. It was through the hardships, the challenges, and the uncertainty that I discovered my true potential and the resilience within me.
In conclusion, I credit my parents for inadvertently instilling in me the courage to step outside the expected path and pursue my dreams. Their initial doubts and subsequent acknowledgment of my achievements have only strengthened my resolve. I am grateful for their love, support, and the role they played in shaping the person I have become.
