We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Dixon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, what principle do you value most?
What values me the most about fitness is the overall health benefits. I love how the right amount of knowledge can lead to a better way of life. For example, Strong muscles, better health & well-being. Also, can improve the overall quality of life and self-esteem.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others would be my passion for fitness and worth ethic. I love hearing my friends/family say, “Here comes the “Fitness guru” or Fitness queen”. At first, I would brush it off and say “nah not me” but shortly afterwords i noticed that this is how my life is .. i really am dedicated to fitness and i have no problem admitting to it.

I learned as i grew older my body goes through certain changes and fitness is certainly not easy. Why is that? Simply because fitness isn’t just a drop 10 pounds kind of thing or another example someone tells me oh summer is around the corner let me try to focus in the gym now. NO! Fitness is a 24/7 commitment. so no it is far from easy.

What kept me going and overcoming weight gain challenges were my peers & the mirror. I surround myself with people who are on the same kind of mission when it comes to fitness 10 times out of 10 the people you see me with are more than likely in the gym or physically fit in some shape or form. The mirror helps me self reflect…. not only physically but mentally as well. I know this may seem weird but i like to look in the mirror and say its a “perfect day to boss up” and in that moment i no longer am just Jessica Dixon , I am someone who is bossing up the entire physical and mental aspects of my fitness journey and just that short affirmation gives me the strength to move mountains.

What i want the world to know about my story is that its never to late to start your fitness journey, some start at 50 while others start at 20 either way stick with your journey and always stay focused.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite spot in the city would have to be smoothie king, I just love the smell of fresh fruit blending together to help me with my fitness goals.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would Like to shoutout my mother for always encouraging me to not be a couch potato and always staying active and to be mindful of the food I consume each & every day. Also shoutout to my fit family @DWS fitness studios for always having a uplifting approach to staying fit.
