We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Czerwinski and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, how do you think about risk?
I believe that taking risks is often necessary for growth, especially when life doesn’t go as planned. At 20, I became a single mother after an unexpected pregnancy. It was a life-changing moment that could have held me back, but instead, it motivated me to create a better future for my daughter and myself. I took a significant risk by starting my own business soon after—without the security of a traditional job or a clear roadmap—but with determination and a strong sense of purpose.

That decision has been one of the most defining choices of my life. Building a successful business while raising a child and pursuing a college degree taught me resilience, adaptability, and the power of betting on myself. Taking that leap wasn’t easy, but it opened doors I never would have imagined. Risk, to me, isn’t about recklessness—it’s about believing in your ability to figure things out and having the courage to pursue what matters, even when the outcome is uncertain.

I’m a 25-year-old mother and the founder of a growing Etsy shop that specializes in trendy, unique baby clothing. My journey began five years ago after the birth of my daughter. Like many new moms, I was excited to dress her in outfits that reflected her personality—but I quickly realized how hard it was to find baby clothes that were both stylish and distinctive. That’s when I decided to create my own designs—pieces that captured her individuality and brought a fresh, modern touch to baby fashion.

What started as a passion project soon turned into a small business. I began creating baby onesies and outfits not only for my daughter but for other moms who were looking for the same unique and expressive styles. What sets my brand apart is the heart behind every item. My designs are created with meaning and care, and I’m honored that my pieces often become part of life’s most precious moments—baby showers, birth announcements, first birthdays, and more.

One of the things I’m most proud of is building this business on my own as a young, single mother. It wasn’t easy. I invested in supplies with no guarantee of success and faced many moments of doubt. But I stayed dedicated, worked hard, and slowly started to see my sales grow. Competing with big corporations is still a challenge, but it has inspired me to be more mindful of where I shop and to support other small businesses whenever I can.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that your circumstances don’t define your future. With determination, creativity, and resilience, you can build something meaningful—no matter where you start. I want the world to know that my brand is about more than just clothing; it’s about celebrating individuality, cherishing milestones, and showing that success is possible for anyone willing to pursue it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have lived in the DFW area for 20 years, and I am still finding new places to explore! I recently moved to the Fort Worth area and I love visiting the Stockyards as well as Billy Bob’s which is a staple for anyone visiting the area!
I love a good crawfish boil, and I am always looking for the best crawfish in the area. Nate’s seafood in Addison always has the best crawfish with so much flavor. As a busy Texan mom, my favorite place to shop is HEB which has recently opened so many locations throughout DFW.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I definitely would not be where I am today without the the help of my mother, Maria Machelski. Not only is she the best mother and Nana to my daughter, but she runs a wonderful organization in Dallas, Texas called Project Gabriel. This organization helps women facing crisis’ pregnancies and empowers them through emotional, financial, and spiritual assistance. She is the woman I strive to be and has dedicated so much of her life to helping others.
I would also love to give a shout-out to my husband who has supported me every step of the way. He has even been so kind to model for so many mock-ups on my shop!
