We had the good fortune of connecting with Jermaine Clarkson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jermaine, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Well I got tired of getting taking advantage of. People don’t wanna do you right and many don’t wanna put someone with potential on their platform that people look up to so basically I started creating my own platform.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a very unique person because I know that I am well rounded having various talents and knowledge that many don’t have and I use that to stand out. I’m proud of my dedication through the hard times and a never give up attitude and looking at the brand that I built with the help of God. It definitely wasn’t easy, but through prayer and learning to navigate really helped me. I want the world to know it was hard work getting here and continue to be hard work to stay here and my brand is built off of integrity, but knowing we can’t please everyone, but happy when we successfully please those who appreciate it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Six Flags period!!! I’m still a big kid!!! Lol We would go to the best sea food places in town a stop at the Cheesecake Factory and Grapevine Mills Mall. That would be be my itinerary in no particular order. I don’t do clubs unless it’s a show I’m performing at or vacation.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are quite a few resources and people that helped me along the way such as a book called “How To Start A Record Label” also DJ Tony Davis who first started getting me exposure to various DJ’s who would play my music. Also another Big shout out goes to the late Jason Bourne, not the actor, but a journalist who took my exposure and marketing to another level. Before he passed this guy gave me so much insight and was the most honest person I’ve ever dealt with. This guy definitely helped get me exposure and not to mention other DJ’s and major label reps that gave me valuable tools to be able to survive out here.
