We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeremy Flint and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeremy, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It was a challenging decision to get started in photography professionally. Having won several awards including the National Geographic Traveller Grand Prize, this provided the impetus to start my own business as a freelance travel photographer.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an award-winning travel photographer and writer specialising in travel and landscapes
After years of hard work and building my way up the professional ladder, I have developed my photography skills, editorial work and client base.
Carving a niche, making good contacts and persevering have helped me to succeed.
I have learned to enjoy what I do and am privileged to do the job I love professionally.
My photography work illustrates colourful and intimate moments that capture the essence of a place besides portraiture that shows affection and optimism through my connections with people. Driven by a curiosity of people and places and a passion for travel, I love to capture the beauty of a destination and reflect my fascination for culture, traditions and humanity in my images.
My work has been published extensively in magazines including National Geographic Traveller, BA Highlife, Discover Britain, Scotland, Outdoor Photography and Country Life, for example.
I love being outdoors, seeing amazingly beautiful landscapes and travelling so travel and landscape photography
are a natural fit.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely take them around the city of Oxford (In England) where I live and show them the sights. There is some stunning architecture there including the university buildings and the Radcliffe Camera. I would eat and drink at the Randolph Hotel, a great place to hang out and wine and dine.
The best places to check out are the city architecture, Blenheim Palace and the Cotswolds, located nearby.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would say David Noton, a previous Canon ambassador and professional travel photographer for over 40 years was my biggest inspiration in starting out. I was inspired by his incredible images from around the world and developed a passion for travel and photography.
