Meet Jeny Honea: Boutique owner & realtor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeny Honea and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeny, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Being present in your business. You can’t hire someone else to do your job fulltime. Building relationships is key.
What should our readers know about your business?
I started my first business with no retail or business background to speak of. I was in the beauty industry right out of high school. I always wanted to own my own business. I wanted to have my own retail store. I just went where my interest was. I have a desire for crafting, creating, decorating, and I love repurposing things,… visiting flea markets or resale shops, I love decorating with those pieces and bringing them to life in a new way. I suppose my first business was just following the work life path I had chosen and what I knew. I had a vision for the style of my first business… a salon and a boutique with a unique vintage flair… using repurposed items in decor. I owned that business for seven years and sold it about 3.5 years ago. Prior to selling that business, I was fortunate to find a commercial building in Downtown Prosper, TX.. the town where we currently live. I purchased that with a vision of starting another biz. I immediately had an interested renter and decided I wanted some time at home and break from small biz ownership, so I rented it, Shelving the idea….at least for the time being. Years passed and I began to wonder if I would ever really own small biz again. I was happy with my tenant and did not foresee her leaving. I decided to get my real estate license, something I had always wanted to do…mainly for saving money on real estate investing if the future allowed. I had just taken my RE exam, joined a team, and moved in the direction of being a realtor. I had my first buyer and had big plans of that becoming my full-time new adventure. I guess God had a different plan for the time because Covid sure changed a few things. My renter left and I was faced with… rent it, sell it, use it! My heart just never left the idea of remodeling the space and using it for boutique.. So here I am balancing it all and living the dream of small biz ownership! It is now an easy road but I feel very fortunate and blessed to have the opportunity to have done all of those things during this uncertain and challenging time in our country.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take her to Dallas of course…some of the finest foods and shopping! Maybe Ft Worth Stockyards… one of the most historic places to visit in Texas in my opinion. I would show them Legacy West in Frisco… an urban destination with the finest of retail and dining. Also, The Star…Dallas Cowboys headquarters also with great shopping and dining. I would have them visit downtown McKinney….my home town and such character and charm with unique shopping and dining! Last but no least little downtown Prosper biz!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
