We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenny-Rebekah Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jenny-Rebekah, how do you think about risk?
I think starting your own business is a risk, along with every decision made after that. Most decisions will directly effect your business. It’s easy to work for someone else with a guaranteed paycheck. My husband helped me decide that doing this business my own way was what wanted. I love the fact that I will either succeed or fail depending on myself and how much I’m willing to put into this.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I specialize in children’s fine art photography. This is something that I truly love and surprisingly enough, I didn’t start out that way. I started out shooting anything and everything that I could until I found my love of children’s photography and from there it turned into children’s fine art photography. There is something about creating a piece of art that simply feeds my soul. I believe when you truly love what you do; the work becomes easy. Your heart fills.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My best friend, Lisa, lives in Los Angeles, California. If she was visiting me, I would show her all the best sites Dallas has to offer. I would take her to the parks here that I love, Swiss street so we could look at the beautiful Architecture, as well as some of my favorite mom and pop restaurants. All in the hopes of convincing her to move here…
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband, Joe, pointed me down this path with all the ups and downs that comes with it. Along the way, I met amazing people that have encouraged me every time I’d fall. Every time I got frustrated enough to quit, I was lucky enough that there was someone in my world convincing me that I should, as my dad used to tell me, pick myself up, brush myself off, and start over again.
