We had the good fortune of connecting with Jen Rivera and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jen, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing there is a field.
I’ll meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass
the world is too full to talk about.” -Rumi
I love this quote because I can and most often apply it to really any situation I am going through in life. That “field” is a place for my head, a place I can go to, lie down and experience just being. The Universe has everything I need, it is full and here for me. In this space I feel accepted. I feel creative. I feel whole and that is truly a beautiful feeling.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
It all started with wanting to share my passion for natural oil-based perfumes. It grew from there and I started incorporating my spiritual journey. It has bloomed into a magical wellness adventure and I want to create “potions” that not only have these great wellness benefits but are also all natural and set with magical intentions.
I am most proud of the fact that I decided to start a small business of my own. For a long time I doubted that I could even do it and sometimes I still struggle with those thoughts but I am quickly reminded of how far I’ve come by simply looking around at what I’ve created. That makes me super proud and excited about just how far I can still push myself. I can honestly say it wasn’t easy, there have definitely been obstacles and lots of second guessing. The biggest lesson I have learned is that I am my own worst enemy and I feel that I have overcome that challenge by stepping back, taking breaks, breathing deep and staying true to my brand, reminding myself that I AM WORTHY and that I AM WANTED.
I want people to know that my brand is for everyone! I want people to feel good and love themselves. All around healing. While I do take pride in creating potions for the witch/Pagan community, I want to help everyone.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am all about that brunch! The first place I’d take a friend is to one of my many favorite restaurants, a local fave called 940’s Kitchen & Cocktails. They serve a bomb eggs benedict! Mimosas? YES! We would absolutely go to Fort Witch and stock up on witchy supplies and introduce them to the community I love so much.
I am a total bookworm so we’d for sure head to Half Price Books off Northwest Highway. It’s huge and I might get lost, sorry in advance friend! For an afternoon pick me up, we would head over to my fave coffee shop, Summer Moon Coffee in downtown Frisco. Order the Summermoon latte, you’ll thank me later! And lastly my most favorite place, my parents ranch. This is where I find my peace. You can meet all the animals and go on a ranch ride with me!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Oh wow there are many to shoutout! But I would most definitely like to start with the woman I call my best friend and “MamaBear.” My Mom, Josie, has been my number one supporter from day one. From the moment I spoke the words of wanting to start a small business she had my back. She helped me so much in the beginning and was there through my potions trial and error. My mom continues to push me and support my decisions. Shoutout to MamaBear, I love you to the Moon & beyond! I’d also like to include the Fort Witch community. You all have been such a tremendous part of Potions by Jen, welcoming me with open arms and nothing but love. Di Corral took a chance on my little business, has given me great advice and introduced me to a number of beautiful like-minded souls. For all you do in this magical witch community, I thank you, huge THANK YOU!
Too many to name individually, but shoutout to my family and friends who continue to support and love me through my magical journey. You’re all truly appreciated and I’m blessed to have such an amazing support system.
