We had the good fortune of connecting with JC Cochrane and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi JC, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started my business, www.awarehouse.life, by first filling a need for my own wellness in body, mind, emotions & soul. Since the age of 16, I’ve been fascinated with alternative healing, clean thinking, and simply “doing my own personal development work” in order to find happiness within rather than wait for something/people outside of me to change. Over the years, I certified in hypnotherapy and NLP, yoga, and meditation, amongst other modalities. When life’s challenges arose, I practiced with the tools that I had learned. I ended up writing a memoir (true story) eleven days – from 35 million to food stamps…what a family gains when losing the American dream. It has over 100 Amazon reviews from BOTH women and men. And I also wrote a companion, guidebook, called Temporarily Closed for Self Care & Spiritual Maintenance. Both of these books are starting to get a lot of attention, due to the hope and help that this country is in need of right now, because of our economic and health (physical, emotional, mental) stresses as of late.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I want the world to know that my story (eleven days – from 35 million to food stamps…what a family gains when losing the American dream, is my story, but you will likely find yours in it. I wrote this with transparency so that it gave others permission to seek a greater understanding of themself, others, and the circumstance they find themselves in. And that greater understanding will lead them to a greater love of self, greater love for others and even, greater love and appreciation for the circumstances that have come up in their lives. We have so much to gain from the obstacles in life and the quicker we realize that, the sooner we move from grit to grace. I stumbled, crawled, and fell through many trials and losses of loved ones, marriage/infidelity, loss of money, friends, etc… but I believe that sharing my story has helped others move through their stories with a little more grace. My story is my brand and I think yours is too. It’s what makes you so exceptional and unique and when embraced, it is your superpower. And so it is.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would go to Santa Barbara, where my eleven days story takes place. I plan on holding a retreat there after Covid lifts. It will be a bit of a field trip while we visit all the places I went too while there, mixed with walking on the beach meditations, good food, positive people, and a time to invest in rest to replenish thy self. There is a small restaurant on Arroyo Beach with the most delicious seafood and extraordinary views. State Street has some of the most unique and eclectic shopping, live music, and restaurants with outdoor seating. The Mission is an extraordinary historic piece of history that will take your breath away while walking through the gardens and such. The sunsets and sunrises inspire beyond belief. We will set new intentions and let them go every morning. Mainly, we will Begin Within, and get aligned to Source/Light/God so that we are able to manifest what is divinely right for us.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Many years ago, Dr. Wayne Dyer and I met, and within minutes he encouraged me to sell my inspirational products and services that are on www.awarehouse.life at his next large event. I was on food stamps still and that seemed impossible. But he reminded me that when you break that word into two, it spells out “I’m possible.” He also strongly urged me to write my memoir. At the time, I wasn’t ready to lay it all out with the transparency I knew it needed and deserved. When I finally sat down to write it, I realized it had been 11 years since the 11-day trip, we were living in our eleventh home, & my husband was on his eleventh job. The number eleven always seems to show up when I need to trust life to serve me right in a divine way. Now that it is published and has over 100 Amazon reviews from both men and women stating how it helped heal them, their marriages, and their families, I am continuing to trust that the reach will carry on and reach those that need it. It is perfect timing for these trying economic and emotionally stressful times right now. So, with deep love in my heart, I am grateful for Dr. Wayne Dyer for simply believing in me and staying on top of me for a decade. he intuitively shared that the reach would be mind-blowing and I prayed he was right. The evening I finished the book, I dropped to my knees and thanked God and my angels, and ancestors, etc…for helping me. I drafted an email to Wayne in the middle of the night and wrote in the subject line “I did it. You were right. It’s a beautiful story and people will find theirs in it.” That next morning, I was told that he had passed in the night. So, again, I trust. I trust that he was God sent to inspire and encourage me, just as all the characters in my eleven days’ housesitting trip showed up at the most divine times as well. I BElive THEre is GOOD in the world and if you read this, you will likely believe the same.
