We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazmine Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jazmine, what role has risk played in your life or career?
“The biggest risk is not taking any.”- Mark Zuckerburg

That quote resonates with me and keeps me on my toes. Taking risk and being faith driven has gotten me extremely far not only in my business, but in life! Taking a risk in the middle of a global pandemic and betting everything I had on me changed my life. I went from an overworked under paid hourly employee to a six figure business owner with plans to expand. Risk taking has afforded me the luxury of time. Having crazy faith, realistic goals and taking risk have granted me opportunities I never imagined possible.
The unknown is scary for most people, but it’s the unknown that fuels me to push forward!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Glistening Skin Care is a brand that focuses on providing women with the knowledge and services to help improve their intimate skin concerns. We understand that everything isn’t common sense when it comes to the vulva and its health. Although waxing is what we’re initially known for, the health of the skin underneath the hair is also a priority.

Building GSC over the past three years has been such a roller coaster of emotions. When I first started my business, I thought all I had to do was wax and reach my audience authentically to gain a clientele. Talking to my phone, pouring out skin care information, posting well lit and aesthetically pleasing photos was the easy and enjoyable part; after came taxes, social media managing, policies, insurance, bills and more. The part of having a business that no one talks about. The burnout that comes with doing more than what you love to grow or maintain the business. The creative spark that dies out when the numbers start to get to your head… I’ve learned that its okay to take small mental breaks from the social world and just enjoy what I love for a moment. Remember your purpose, your why and never forget that the authentic you is why they chose you!

“In the end it’ll all be okay and if it isn’t okay, then it’s not the end!”- unknown

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Im not really the hanging out gal. lol I’d probably drag my friends to a few food spots, the gym and yoga. im a foody! I love trying new places and new foods or drinks. Everyday we’re hitting a new food spot.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have the biggest support system! I could not be who I am or have even gotten thus far without my family! My grandmother Vickie who kept my son while I worked full time and went to school part time. There was never a time she made my long and weary days harder than what they already were. Thank you grandma for understanding where I was and where I wanted to be. To my many friends and family that let me practice on them in and out of school and gave me honest criticism to help me better myself and my skill. Those that poured into me with prayer, money or a simple shout out. This is my Shoutout to you. THANK YOU All of you
