We had the good fortune of connecting with Jazmin Hornbeck and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jazmin, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
For years I found myself unhappy in the job I was doing before I found Esthetics. I’ve always known I wanted to take care of people in some way. I love meeting new people & to help whenever & however I can. I remember there was one day I realized I could do that through Esthetics. Something that I never really saw myself doing. Although when I started I fell in love & knew I found just where I am supposed to be, The growth I’ve seen in myself & my career has reiterated that. The ability to continue my education in an ever growing industry, meeting other Estheticians & giving each other tips & sharing technique, as well as meeting new client’s who each have their own needs & concerns inspires me. To be able to give my client’s a safe space while helping them to understand their skin is what inspires me. That smile they have when they see their results from their service is what inspires me. There’s a million reasons I continue to be inspired about my career but, my client’s are number one.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
While working as a server I began Esthetics school full time in 2019 & became Licensed in January 2020. That’s when everything shut down for Covid. The start of my career wasn’t easy. It wasn’t starting the way I had hoped. I was unable to practice Esthetics for months after getting my license so I continued working in the service industry doing to-go food at a restaurant. I had been serving since 2012, I was ready to do something different. I was miserable, not doing what I wanted When everything started opening back up I started looking for my first job in the Esthetics field. I was hired at a spa & was ecstatic to begin. Eager to help & work all the hours available. Although after a few months, the toxicity of the environment was starting to take it’s toll. I felt worse here than when I was serving. So I started looking for a new place & found one quickly. This new spa gave me a new opportunity. Since starting at that spa I have grown. I learned not feel bad for standing up & speaking up for myself as well as my client’s when it’s needed, gained more knowledge, been introduced to different techniques & hold myself to a higher standard to ensure I can overcome whatever challenges may arise. With new & current client’s I always want to provide a safe space for them to come & feel understood & taken care of because I genuinely care about them. I want to be there for them. Haus of Skin is all inclusive, absolutely everyone is welcome. At Haus of Skin I offer an array of services and always go above & beyond to make sure my clients enjoy their time with me. For all clients there’s a complimentary snack & drink bar, First time client’s receive a discount as well as a goodie bag at the end of service. I include in all treatments, complementary aromatherapy, facial & arm & hand massage, neck & shoulder massage and an ice globe massage during the mask. Each Facial & the Back Treatment are 60 minutes. I absolutely love to pamper & spoil my clients.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am more laid back so I like to go to the Ft. Worth Museums, Bookstores & plant shops are always a favorite or if we were going out for drinks it would definitely be at Pete’s Piano Bar downtown Ft. Worth or Billy Bob’s for a concert or for pool & dart’s. Although, myself & my people seem to be more stay in for a scary movie or reading a good book kind of people.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Shoutout would have to be my mother-in-law Pam Cornwell who is also a LE. She introduced me to Esthetics & without her & Esthetics I don’t know where I’d be today.
