We had the good fortune of connecting with Jason Washington and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jason, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The inspiration behind starting my own business came from a deep desire to show people that God can and will use you—whether it’s Plan A, B, or C. You’re never counted out. I wanted others to understand that no matter your age or background, you can still live a healthy lifestyle, be bold, be confident, and be yourself. Fitness has always been a part of who I am, and so has fashion. So I thought—why not combine both passions into something impactful? That’s how PHL — PushingHealthyLifestyles was born. It’s more than a brand; it’s a movement to inspire purpose, faith, and health.

What should our readers know about your business?
It took hard work, dedication, commitment, consistency—and above all, belief in God. Nothing in life comes easy, but if you truly put effort into your purpose, it can take you far. Overcoming challenges wasn’t about shortcuts; it was about staying locked in, grinding through the tough times, and using my confidence and faith to push forward. There were countless late nights, moments of doubt, and situations where I had to remind myself not to take “no” for an answer.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is to keep God first in everything and to always be a blessing to others. That’s what I want the world to know about me and my brand. I’m a man of God, and PHL – Pushing Healthy Lifestyles is more than a brand—it’s a mission. It’s about helping others realize their own potential, building belief, and creating real impact in the community and the world.

My brand offers apparel, books, and lifestyle coaching, but my foundation also focuses on youth empowerment—helping kids build their confidence, giving back, and guiding them toward a brighter future. My story is unique, and I’ve lived this lifestyle with passion for years. I’ll continue to lead the way God intends for me—with purpose, integrity, and love.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had a week to show someone around, I’d definitely take them through the Uptown area and Deep Ellum to really experience the culture and creativity that Dallas has to offer. Those spots are packed with energy, art, and a real sense of what makes the city special. We’d hit up some of my favorite Cajun and soul food restaurants—Dallas has some serious hidden gems when it comes to flavor. We’d also check out a few lounges and bars that capture the city’s diverse vibe, with music ranging from old-school classics to new wave hip hop and R&B.

I’ve got a long list of spots I love, but I won’t name-drop—don’t want any of my close friends with businesses getting mad at me for leaving them out! But trust me, it would be an unforgettable week. Good food, great drinks, and an unmatched vibe are what DFW is all about. It’d be one of those “we gotta run it back” type of trips for sure.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give all the glory to God—none of this would be possible without Him. He’s the foundation of everything I do. I also want to recognize my close family and friends who’ve supported me throughout this journey. I’ve always been a God-fearing man, and my faith continues to carry me through every challenge. Whether it takes months or years, I’m committed to the grind, and my confidence is through the roof because I know who’s guiding my steps.
