We had the good fortune of connecting with Jason Swick and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jason, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
If you want to positively impact the world in exceptional ways, you absolutely have to be willing to take exceptional risk. There is a fine line between being careless and taking great risk. With confidence in your given purpose or mission, proper preparation in support of performance and the clarity of mind to peacefully evaluate risk; one can take action to create incredible change not only in their own life, but the lives of those around them. So often people live in a state of mediocracy because it is comfortable, however the cost of such mindset leaves so much potential and good will on the table. When you believe you serve something greater than yourself it builds confidence in one’s ability to confidently evaluate risk vs. reward.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I had an impactful and arduous career in emergency services. I spent time in Emergency Medical Services, the Fire Service and Law Enforcement. The privilege of raising your right hand to serve humanity comes with a cost though. Many first responders continually experience stress at a very high level. They are rarely afforded time, skills and resources to process their stressful experiences appropriately. The compounding of stress and absence of coping abilities are where first responders lives begin to unravel. Through repetitive exposure to the worst of humanity, I began to have a distorted perception of humanity. I went from a young, eager and willing first responder to one with a hardened heart. As a result, the quality of my personal and professional relationships began to deteriorate. I got back into horses, after riding as a child, to escape the realities of life. Through my pursuit of learning horsemanship, I began to find myself. Many in the protector and provider professions bear an unwanted burden that drains them of their passion, purpose and peace. Horsemanship and being with the horses allowed me to see myself and the world as God created us!

This transformative experience sparked the genesis of Day 6 Ranch! We are a horsemanship company who creates opportunities, through the western way of life, for our world’s Warriors to pursue purpose, optimize potential and prevail in peace. We offer online learning opportunities that use parallels between horsemanship and self-mastery to help people discover their “why” in life. We hope to grow and produce more in person events in the form of horsemanship, leadership and self-mastery retreats.

The road to Day 6 Ranch was never easy, often the challenges throughout my career seemed insurmountable. However, as I began to learn who I was and what I was created for; my perspectives of past, present and future challenges changed for the better.

Through the material and opportunities created through Day 6 Ranch people have the possibility of turning their life of mere existence into a legacy worth lifestyle. A life that you can be proud of, a life that inspires others, a life that builds a legacy worth passing to the next generation.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
You would rarely find us in the city due to the demands of our lifestyle. Taking care of animals and land requires hard work, long hours and no days off. This life is not for everybody and that’s ok!

The few times we have stumbled into the big cities we have enjoyed the history and heritage The Fort Worth Stockyards offers. We have spent a good deal of time at the Will Rogers Memorial Center for various equine industry events.

If we planned a day’s events for friends visiting it would be spent with good horses, great food and finish around the campfire getting to fellowship and talk life!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
God has paved an incredible path for me and extended grace in such a manner that has allowed me to steward the opportunities He’s entrusted me with. God has placed incredible people in my life who have mentored me and supported me throughout the various seasons of my life, thus far. I am grateful for the foundation my parents laid in the form of character development. My wife has been the absolute pillar of strength when I could not find the strength myself. I have many peers who have instilled wisdom, based on their life experience, which has shaped me over the years! I am grateful to so many for all they have done for me, my family and Day 6 Ranch.
