We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmine, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My initial thought process behind starting my makeup business was first, to explore and nurture my creativity. I loved the craft of makeup artistry, it came naturally to me. Doing my makeup and being asked to do makeup for other girls built my self-confidence, which was something that I struggled with growing up. I grew to be very passionate about honoring our beauty and the unstoppable power it unlocks, and once I realized I could pour this into others, I wanted other women to experience this too. Teaching women how to create a soft glam makeup routine has fulfilled me in many ways and has shown me how powerful it is to help women see themselves in a new, confident light that makes them feel unstoppable.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Fun fact about me: I’ve been educating in the classroom for 5 years now as an elementary school teacher and I absolutely love cultivating and witnessing growth. It is such a gift to have the patience and willingness to serve others in an educational capacity. I’ve always had a passion for kids and that sparked my interest for a career in education. While being a teacher by day, my passion for makeup never faded away, it was something I always made time for. I would teach myself how to do looks and trends, but I also took classes from some amazing artist. During my off-time in the summer, I would take countless makeup appointments and I worked for MAC Cosmetics to help save money for my personal brand. It was exhausting at times but I loved being submerged in beauty while being on break from school. Sometimes it felt like I was being pulled in two opposite directions and I wanted to find a way to make a connection. It finally dawned on me that I could teach and educate women about their makeup routines, products, and trends. Instead of listening to doubt and negativity about being in 2 completely different worlds of being teacher bae or MUA, I had to learn to wait on God and trust in the dreams, skills, and gifts that He already showed me. It was like a flip of a light switch, when I surrendered to who I really was all along, an educator AND makeup artist, everything changed. From this, I pivoted my brand from strictly makeup artistry to an educational experience for women who wanted to learn the same skills and confidence that I had, but for themselves.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my favorite things to do is my prettiest glam and go eat with my girls! We would absolutely have to hit my favorite Happy Hour spots like The Charlotte or Even Coast, dinner at Moxie’s, and Sunday brunch at Catch. Of course we have to keep our bodies moving so we’d go walking on Katy Trail, sculpting classes in Bishop Arts, or if we’re really looking pretty, go dance the night away at Double D’s. Dallas is such a fun place to live, there’s always something to do!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to dedicate my shoutout to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for instilling purpose and gifts in my life and also to my family and friends that have always been supportive to me and never let me forget how proud they are of me encouraging me and pushing me to greatness.
