Meet Janna Michelle | My Daughter’s Founder/ Motivational Speaker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Janna Michelle and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Janna Michelle, what role has risk played in your life or career?
When you hear the word risk, you automatically think of the uncertainty of things. When you know there is a risk, fear could easily creep into your thought process and drive you to cease. In the past, if there was an unknown I would not make a move. As I begin to age and grow, so did my courage and desire to take risks. I begin to tell myself, If I never try then I would never know my true capabilities and nor my strengths that lie dormant. Once I take leaps, I continue to take risks to reach the goals and visons that are before me. Today, I take more risks to reach my potential and unlock the doors that I did not know were there. A risk no longer frightens me, not taking the risk does. If I did not, then My Daughter’s non-profit organization for girls and Janna Michelle the motivational speaker would not exist.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Normally when a person is asked what type of work they in, there is usually an straight forward answer. When I am asked of the work I am doing, I respond with what what work I am not doing. What do I mean by this? Let me explain. I get to do the things that others believe it takes a ” special” person to do. I first began My Daughter’s with workshops and programs for adolescent girls. It has since evolved. My experiences and travels as a Motivational Speaker for adolescent girls and women has opened my eyes to all the possibilities. Today My Daughter’s continues to provide workshops for adolescent girls and has added a new mentorship program. My Daughter’s will provide a space for not only adolescent girls but will have an emphasis on providing support for juvenile girls as well to have access to resources they and their families are in need of in the community. This has not been an easy task, but with focus and tenacity the state of My Daughter’s goals are and will be at its best this year. I am honored to serve the community. When you set goals, you must have the discipline to carry them out. This is the biggest lesson I know to be true. I want the world to know the Janna Michelle brand and the My Daughter’s brand will become a household name. The brand will inspire you to take hold of what is in you and push until it becomes more. Let it be something you are proud of.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If one of my best friends came into the city to have a great time, I would have so many things to show and tell. Since I love to be social and have fun, we would have to get some fuel first. I love to eat seafood. If you ask me what is my favorite food, I will respond with “yummy” because I do not have a favorite food but I will make sure you have something delicious. Although I love breakfast, I would have to say I would skip it if it means we can go to Shipley’s Do-Nuts. We would have bit of fun with some cool and quirky photos at The Museum of Memories .It is a cute little swanky location for laughs and photo op. I would also take my friend to Nate’s Seafood & Steakhouse. You cannot go wrong with any item on the menu. Arrive early or make reservations because it definitely gets packed. For a little piece of nightlife we would venture out to Deep Ellum. There are many spots out there to choose from for a fun night out. If there are any concerts, then we would definitely get tickets to American Airlines, Gas Monkey or the House of Blues. There is always something fun to do and I will always find it.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My story behind the creation of My Daughter’s is due to the love of beauty of my mother. Without her, this daughter would not be able to be the force behind my non profit organization dedicated to all girls. I say thank you to my siblings for the constant support and to my mentees for being my inspiration.
