We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamil Fristoe and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamil, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risks is crucial for character development. It forces us out of our comfort zones to tackle challenges we might usually avoid. This has significantly influenced my life and career. Often, I hesitated to take risks due to uncertainty about the outcomes, but staying in my comfort zone would have prevented many of my achievements.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Throughout my life, I’ve been frequently complimented on my looks, and one day, someone suggested I try modeling. In 2017, I had my first photoshoot, which was an incredible experience, but I wasn’t sure how to pursue a modeling career afterward. So, I did some research and enrolled in modeling classes at John Casablancas.

I learned a lot about the industry, including how it operates and what I needed to do to get noticed. In 2019, I participated in a project called “The Skin I’m In” by Houston photographer Ferrell Phillips, which I discovered through a Facebook ad and auditioned for in Houston.

In 2021, I appeared in my first magazine, Apollo, in the summer edition, followed by a nude art exhibition. Now, in 2024, I will be part of LA Fashion Week, walking the runway for the first time. I have other projects in the works that I can’t discuss yet. It wasn’t too difficult to get started, though I wish I had known earlier that legitimate model castings don’t require payment and to avoid scams.

In addition to modeling, I also do male entertainment, including stripping and art-and-sip shows, which my modeling career has helped me enter.

I want everyone to know that you should always follow your dreams. If you don’t have support, seek it out yourself. If people believe in your vision, they’ll help you achieve your goals. Remember, failure is just the first attempt in learning, so don’t give up easily.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For brunch, I’d recommend Seven Mile or 360 Brunch House—two fantastic breakfast spots among the best in the DFW area. For drinks, downtown Dallas, Lower Greenville, and Uptown offer plenty of bars perfect for bar hopping. As for great places to visit, I’d suggest the Dallas Museum of Art, Topgolf, Reunion Tower, AT&T Stadium (home of the Cowboys), and Cidercade for arcade games and beer. Additionally, the American Airlines Center is always buzzing with sporting events, comedy shows, and music concerts.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother has always supported me unconditionally and is my biggest fan. I wouldn’t be as strong as I am today without her. She has always encouraged me to find my passion and pursue it.

One of my favorite books is “The Laws of Human Nature,” which has given me a new perspective on life, the world around us, and why people behave the way they do.

I also want to give a shoutout to my little brothers, Ant and Brandon, for always having my back and helping me whenever I needed it, and to the MetroFlex gym family in Arlington for helping me get started in bodybuilding, especially Coach Aaron for everything he has done for me.
