We had the good fortune of connecting with James Larabee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi James, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting our voice acting journey in 2011, we discovered there was a need for resources and education that were required to allow actors to pursue their dreams. Also, it helped provide an opportunity to get away from the corporate world that
was consuming a lot of our time. With over a decade of acting and voice acting experience, it was great to be our
own boss.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Please tell us more about your career. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about.

I have managed banks for over 20 years as well as having crafted an acting and voiceacting career while also being a father and husband.

Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges?
Not easy at all. Having a passion for acting and striving for excellence in both your professional career that keeps a roof over your head and running a successful business are essential. Also, having my daughter becoming an actor and voiceactor was both a challenge and an opportunity to grow closer.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d take them to Kura rotating sushi in Carrollton, TX. Showing them the various retail shops in that area, such as Kinokuniya and 85 Degrees bakery. Then, take them to the National Video Game Museum, followed by lunch at Nerdvana located in Frisco, TX. No trip to Dallas would be complete without a stop at the Dallas Museum of Art and also a visit to Meowwolf in Grapevine, TX. While in DFW eating at The Rainforest Cafe, Liberty Burger, and Texas de Brazil are all great places to grab a bite!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Bryan Massey, Vice President at Iolite Studioz.

Morgan Larabee, Assistant Vice President at Iolite Studioz and also my daughter.
