We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamar R and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamar, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Sometimes people are attracted by the idea of not having a boss to report to, or being able to make their own schedule. For me, I knew that creating your own business is hard work, and often requires more than a 9 to 5. I prefer to bet on my own success and my work ethic. If I fail I know it comes down to something within my control, rather than being at the mercy of a corporation. I also take pride in building my brand from scratch.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Top Frame Media, we specialize in Real Estate, Short Term Rental, or Architectural Design photography. Here’s the thing, we don’t just stand in the corner of a room and snap a photo.

I originally filmed weddings for the 7 years of camera experience under my belt. In an industry where marketing is fast paced, and transactional, we bring back the storytelling element of each property. If you want your target audience to look at your property and envision their lives within the space, capture the feeling of the location, this is what we provide.

We shoot any location like it’s our own. The backbone of our business isn’t dollar signs, its built on a passion for artistic interpretation and conveying feeling as you view our work. To get where we are wasn’t easy. Our target clients had to be curated for what they appreciate in our photography work.

When you first start your business and look to aquire clients, you may resort to taking a job even if it doesn’t fit your philosophy. Now we’ve tailored our clients to understand and appreciate that what we create is a narrative, not just a property listing. Our clients value and understand this approach. We aren’t looking for clients that just want snapshots, but want their listing to stop you mid-scroll. Photography is a skill that can be taught, but we are born with the passion for artistic creation through a lens.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Although I am fairly new to the DFW Texas area, I have had the opportunity to check out a variety of areas thanks to my business opportunities. If you enjoy being on the water, Eagle Mountain Lake or Granbury are worth checking out. If you prefer kayaking down the river with a very tight knit downtown, then Granbury is the place to be. If you prefer to jet ski on a wide open lake, but still be close to the city Eagle Mountain Lake is the recommendation. As for eats in the area, you can’t go wrong with a highly rated BBQ or Birria taco restaurant.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Definitely a shout out to my wife who has been open and supportive of my vision and dreams. She knows what I’m capable of and without her support on the back end, nothing would be possible.
