We had the good fortune of connecting with Jalyn Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jalyn, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My seeds Oracle Mami, Loc Mami, and Bearth With Jalyn are all authentic reflections of my personal experiences along my journey of reclaiming the truth, opening the door for personal relatability and resonance amongst the community.

The community focus behind Oracle Mami is to have a sacred space for bridging the gap between what we perceive to be mundane occurrences and their spiritual relevance in our lives. Intuitively called to align with an unconventional lifestyle absent of societal programming and fear, the internal and external research I bring to the community involves the study of information hidden in plain sight. Through my work, I intend to help others learn the art of breaking karmic generational cycles & ancestral patterns, embracing the void, and reclaiming sovereignty of the mind, body, and spirit through holistic practices and autonomous lifestyle choices. In this space, I am simply a mirror and testimony for those who find resonance in shared experiences– with hopes of inspiring and encouraging others to be courageous during darker times, heal and dive deeper into self-awareness.

Loc Mami is my braid, loctician, and natural hairstyling business where I read and readjust the crowns of those blessed by my hands and spirit! My private hair suite acts as a central point for my community to not only have a safe space to relax and recalibrate, but also to gather physically and lean into collective conversations we’re having on a larger scale.

Bearth With Jalyn is an extension of my spiritual practice that creates space for the exploration of my birthwork offerings and supporting new parents in a way that encompasses their holistic wellbeing, both spiritual and practical. Because I believe a village is essential to properly fulfill the needs of both parents and baby, my role of thoroughly educating parents about their birthrights and birthing options, helping create prenatal/birth/postpartum plans that align with the parents desired experience, and offering mental, spiritual, and practical assistance to families makes me an essential innovator in this beautiful community.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I don’t exactly like to place myself and my purpose in a box; however, I will say that as I continue to calibrate to this realm’s natural rhythm, sacred information of higher perspective is revealed to me. Some people call it psychic, clairvoyant, shamanic. A medicine woman, an oracle, a healer, a nature “witch”. Pick your label. I consider myself to be a woman who was called to awaken to a Divine presence beyond the 3D— and instead of fearfully running, I challenged myself to begin the process of unplugging from the mental limitations of “the matrix” in 2018. My life’s work is an authentic reflection of my personal experiences along my journey of unmasking the truth. Born a naturally curious soul, I find passion in sharing the magic of unseen realms through my offerings, artistic expression, and documentation of this marathon. I would say that my life purpose is to bridge the gap between what we perceive to be mundane occurrences and their spiritual relevance in our lives. More importantly, at the center of my purpose is inspiration.

Because my work evolves as I continue to navigate my own path, I find myself to be an ever-changing multidimensional muse exploring art in all its forms. Through writing, I use the unique articulation of my words to fully capture the beauty of my experiences, and to ignite a flame within those who find resonance in my expression. Through film, creating collective healing projects, offering spiritual facilitation and readings, publishing my digital shadow workbook, and hosting events– I invite the collective of people who resonate with my creations to be their own shaman and follow their heart as their compass, while also having the comfort of being spiritually facilitated and eradicating the challenge of not knowing where to start their journey of self-exploration.

Because this work is grounded and founded upon reclaiming authenticity, one of the most challenging cycles for me to break was reclaiming my own after over 10 years of code-switching trauma and feeling pressured to mask my most authentic self for survival and “respectability”. As a Black girl attending a predominantly white institution for majority of my (pre)teen experience, a lot of my developing identity revolved around playing it safe and not doing or being “too much” for those around me to handle, which therefore came with me also masking my gifts and rejecting my own truth because it was “taboo” and wasn’t everyone’s shared experience. Although I was supported by a beautiful and amazing educator/mentor (Mrs. Ralinda Watts @ralindaspeaks), I found it challenging to fully surrender to my calling because I had subconsciously believed that I would always be rejected for being a truth teller in a world of accepted facades. After leaving college and no longer allowing it to be the foundation of my purpose, I was challenged with getting to know who Jalyn truly was beyond the filter.

Doing the inner work to get to know myself beyond every projection has led me to share this work as confidently as I do today, because I now truly believe in what I speak– as it is an extension of my own experience. In this space, I truly know God because I have recognized the beauty within myself as such. Shadow work/integration is the bridge for preparation and opportunity to meet and requires one to get very clear about the purpose God carved into the fiber of your heart. When we do what we love, we find ourselves never having to “work” a day in our lives, but instead choose to CREATE a life based upon the exploration of our gifts, talents, and authentic expression. In this we know we are sustained, because the Creator (whatever you believe in) led us there. Because we are the physical embodiment of God, it’s important to remind ourselves that God would never lead itself astray. Imagine that… giving the heart permission to act as your compass, because you’ve aligned with the most authentic version of yourself! However, to reclaim our authenticity we must be willing to tell ourselves and others the radical truth with compassion. We must be willing to face the parts of ourselves that we’ve tucked away in hidden corners to protect our ego. We must create a safe space for our subconscious mind to be vulnerable and radically honest with us about the limiting beliefs and programming it latched onto in survival mode.

My spiritual facilitation offerings were created to not only hold sacred space for you through your current awakening, but also with the intention of broadening your perspective. Spiritual facilitation sessions are approached with intentions of putting your life’s experience back into your own hands and leading you back to your own inner-knowing—reclaiming sovereignty and personal power as your birthright. This space is for those who have received the intuitive nudge to dive deeper into their psycho-spiritual (a term coined and used by writer, karmic advisor, and underworld worker–Nikhol Rei @officialnikholrei) awareness of self and the world around them, but simply have difficulty articulating what’s required to continue their evolution. I am also open to working with or collaborating with other small businesses, companies, and corporations who are looking to expand their businesses with the guidance of their most authentic essence. I’m grateful for the opportunity to share such a special piece of my heart with you, as I offer ancient wisdom acquired through lifetimes lived and countless spiritual awakenings of my own. In this space, I simply wish to be a mirror for you! My range of facilitated offerings include:

– Transparent & vulnerable dialogue about our experiences

– Intuitive and psychic divination readings (I do not discuss physical health or death related topics)

– Soundbath and high frequency meditation

– Shadow integration journaling (I curate personalized journal prompts for each client’s needs).

– Emotional Freedom Tapping (EFT) for subconscious reprogramming and auric hygiene (I curate personalized affirmation scripts for each client’s needs).

– Subtle energy hygiene education and advising (chakras, subtle bodies, & auras)

As a more tangible extension of this work, I am also currently offering full-spectrum doula support (prenatal, birth, and postpartum) to local DFW families who are interested in holistic support, a calm home-birth experience, or a more aligned and empowered hospital birth experience. Doulas are non-medical practitioners who offer informational, spiritual, emotional, and physical support to people during abortion, loss, birth, and the postpartum period. Alongside having a background in spiritual facilitation, I also have plenty of experience with childcare/nannying, pet-care, tutoring, home-care, and natural haircare.

Because I’ve always been passionate about the correlation between the cosmos and hair, I use my gift of haircare to open the door of curiosity for those interested in learning more about themselves beyond the surface. The act of doing someone’s hair with genuine care, while diving into meaningful and inspiring conversations, is a form of energetic reiki healing and creates a safe space for sacred revelations. I offer braids, starter locs, loc maintenance and loc repairs– alongside offering small oracle readings as an appointment add on for those interested. The main thing I’d want someone reading to take from my story is that rejection does not define or mark your purpose, but it is the cracking open of one’s heart that creates space for an authentic vision to manifest! Keep going and resist the societal pressure to confine your vision to that of a conventional box, despite every delay or setback! Be and do everything your heart calls for you to actualize, and watch the magic(k) unfold as time goes on.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Because I am still new to the DFW area and recently relocated from Los Angeles, I’m still becoming familiar with great places to experience myself! Because I am a big foodie, three restaurants I’ve really enjoyed so far and would highly recommend are Flower Child in Downtown Fort Worth, Lola’s Cuban Food in Fort Worth, and Red Claws Crab Shack in Fort Worth.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to show appreciation to those in my intimate and immediate family and friends who have been nothing short of supportive and encouraging, even when they couldn’t see the vision as clearly as I was given it–but still saw the light within me that would bring the manifestation of my vision into the physical . My siSTARs, who have been like mirrors for me, have really held me together during seasons of confusion with reassurance, epiphanies, comfort, laughter, joy, friendship, and authentic admiration for how I’ve been called to show up in this world.
