The amount of time and work that goes into creating content. Being a live streamer you have to learn a lot about computers, sound/audio, camera settings, graphic designs and so much more just to hit go live. People usually think that its easy playing video games for a living but it’s a lot of work that goes on behind the scene.

Hey my name is Jacquetta Montgomery also known as iAM_iKandi or just Kandi for short. I’m from Monticello, AR but I’ve stayed in Texas most of my life. I’m the first black woman to be partnered on every major platform Facebook Gaming, Twitch, Youtube and Tiktok. It all started on Mixer I didn’t really know much about streaming its not something you see a lot of black folks do lol. I went live just for my friends to see me playing call of duty and people started to show up to the stream daily. I met ChicagoPeeps2 who really took me under his wings and helped me a lot.with the industry I had no clue about Partnership or anything. After streaming for 5 months I got partnered on Mixer December 2018 was one of the happiest days of my life I felt like I had hit the jackpot when I got partnered. I was still working a full time job and streaming so I took a leap of faith and quit my job to pursue my career. Things were going great for me and then we got the news that Mixer was closing, all I could think about was my kids how was mommy going to take care of her babies. I was really going thru all the emotions but I had a talk with my community and they said where ever you go we going with you. I set a goal to be the best of the best and remain 100% authentic. Some people were given partnerships on Twitch when Mixer closed but unfortunately I wasn’t one of them it hurt like hell but I was like watch this in my usher voice lol. So I got into grind mode November 2020 I was offered a partnership with Facebook Gaming, December 2020 I was partnered on Twitch, January 2021 I was partner on YouTube, and October 2021 I got partnered on Tiktok. It wasn’t easy at all I was going thru a divorce from my ex which costed so much money it was days I didn’t know how I was going to pay my bills or rent but I had all the faith in God while still keeping a smile on my face and showing up for my community every single night. Since moving back to Texas things have been on the up finally got divorced I’ve had several big brand deals, a lot more traveling, I see my mom more often since she’s only 2 hours away now, I have friends here who support me without question. Im here to show other black men/women that we can be in this gaming space without having to water down who you are. I still have a lot of work to do in the gaming industry my dream is to be one of the most influential black woman in the gaming industry. Life lessons Ive learned don’t put all your eggs in 1 basket.

Dallas has so many things and places to visit which is why I love it here my top places are Hard eights BBQ, Dickeys BBQ, Gloria’s Latin Cuisine, The Social House, Cidercade, Grand Prairie Premium Outlet and We would have to catch a Cowboys game. GO COWBOYS!!!!!

I would love to give a shout out to my organization iAM Gaming. This is my family they helped me out so much while I was going thru some of the toughest times of my life with Mixer closing and being in a toxic relationship it was taking a toll on me but they stepped up and helped in every way possible.
