We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacob Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jacob, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’ was born on the Southside of Chicago and I moved to Texas my freshman year of high school.Growing up there I’ve learned things that I wouldn’t have anywhere else. You had to be cautious of the gangs, gun violence, drugs, and how you treat people. So it of course made me solid. It gave me a better understanding of “consequences “. So when I came to Texas and experienced “southern hospitality” i didn’t have to live with paranoia. Survival instincts were embedded in me , but being in Texas I would rarely have to be on guard. So i would say it made me a warrior in a garden.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Nothing worth having comes easy. I had to work 2 jobs to sponsor myself, and the things that I need to do. Due to the fact of me having the 2 jobs. There wasnt any room for any foolery .I would have to go to work at 2pm-12:30am go clock in to the 2nd job from 1am -9am. Then drive 40 minutes to where I live. If I got 3 hrs of sleep I was lucky . But all of the Burrgen Boyz were grinding. I learned that if you properly plan anything is possible. Ernest found the studio, and we decided to tackle this media game head on. Ernest and Robert there’ on the music side so we have a recording studio.Triston travels the world and captures the moments so he set up his back drops and props, since he’s all about photography and videos. Then there’s me and Justus, both passionate about the people in our lives and extremely passionate about the things we’ve experienced. So we started a podcast , because we want people to know that we all can share pain and laugh together . And that’s it’s okay for men to get vulnerable . Due to things we experienced we want people to understand the importance of mental and physical health. So I’m proud of us for being able to come together and create a business, that focuses on each of our passions.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Of course the Burrgen Boyz isn’t just me. The members Triston Brown, Justus Bosire , Robert Anakani , and Ernest Askie our the brothers I’ve chosen. We all went to Bowie H.S. together and met through basketball. Some (Triston&Ernest) I even went off to college with. These are the guys i plot with, share my pain with, and grow with. Without my circle of friends none of it would have been possible.
