We had the good fortune of connecting with Jackson Kibby and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jackson, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve always been drawn to the arts. I started my career as a stage actor at “Performing Arts San Antonio” and begun finding my way into the film industry though a few connections I made there. My background in stage acting provided me with a deep understanding of character development and emotional nuance, which can be translated beautifully onto the screen. As I transitioned into filmmaking, I had the opportunity to delve even deeper into the lives of my characters, capturing their joys, struggles, and transformations in a visually compelling way.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve always been a filmaker at heart. I’ve watched movies my whole life and was always encapsulated by the way they made me feel. Now At 20 years old, I’ve directed and shot 6 short films, multiple music videos , And I’m currently in production with my first feature length film “Inertia” It definitely wasn’t easy to get to where I am today. It took years of working by myself to create my short films until I started to gain more support to get to where I am today. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned in this industry is to just be friendly. People love to work with people with a great attitude. And it gets you places. My biggest Goal with this career is to be able to touch people in the community with the power of my visual storytelling, i find it very rewarding.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love the palladium imax theatre and the river walk!!! Some amazing places to eat would be Mellow Mushroom and anything on the river walk!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are a few people I’d like to thank. Now that I’ve found my way to directing a Feature Length film, I couldn’t have done it without my loving and supporting parents. The Help of Rosy De Hoyos and Christian Stryder, along with my friends such as Drae Stockton and Trevor Najera for always supporting me throughout this journey.
