We had the good fortune of connecting with Iyen Omoragbon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Iyen, how does your business help the community?
WithCare Telehealth provides a platform for patients and families to be able to access urgent medical care virtually without having to sacrifice time away from other vital aspects of their lives. WithCare Telehealth was founded to provide virtual access to underserved communities in need. Our aim is to increase access to urgent medical concerns in a cost-effective manner, with the hopes of improving the health outcomes of underserved communities.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
WithCare Telehealth platform was created with underserved populations in mind and designed with a simple-user-friendly concept in mind to help underserved patients have easy access to affordable care virtually. Most telehealth services have a one-size-fits-all model. Patients are not fully attended to, and the cost of care is never convenient for many patients in need. We strive to provide our patients the highest quality and cost-effective care possible without interruptions to what matter most to them. We provide treatment for basic/common non-life-threatening episodic illnesses such as pink eye, common colds/sinus/respiratory infections, eczema, asthma flare-ups, urinary tract infections, medication refills, STD treatment, and etc.
Generating awareness to telehealth services available to low-income and rural communities has been the biggest challenge so far. For many underserved communities, access to reliable technology to utilize telehealth services is an underestimated challenge, particularly in rural communities. We have incorporated a text-to-clinician feature to help bridge the gap for those patients that are not technologically inclined or may not have access to videoconferencing.
We understand the challenges associated with the rising cost of episodic illness care and the setbacks (monetary and time losses) associated with episodic illness care, especially for underserved populations. Our goal is to prevent those setbacks by increasing easy access to telehealth services, improve patient health outcomes in a timely manner, and to improve our patients’ overall quality of life.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I come from a family of healthcare professionals who instilled in me at a young age the art of caring for others. Growing up in Nigeria, my father owned and operated a pharmacy in my hometown in Benin City, Nigeria. Seeing my father care for others in our community at that time really made an impact on my journey into healthcare. I own a lot of my success to my father for the fostering the nature to care for my community at large.
