We had the good fortune of connecting with Isaiah Wafer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Isaiah, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
For me there were a few things that led to this decision. The biggest factor in it was the fact that I was miserable doing anything else. When I first began to DJ it clicked almost immediately. It was something that I was instantly passionate about. As I began to dive deeper, I started to believe that this had the opportunity to be a viable career. I’ll admit it isn’t the easiest to get going, but once I finally hit a stride I felt that the money began to follow. My happiness and passion for it seemed to be contagious it’s like people pick up on that energy. Second reason I really think I pursued this is because I get to put smiles on people’s faces. It’s not like working the DMV or a hospital. When people come out to see me they are looking to have a good time ,and while I’m not the sole reason, I play a big part in helping them have that good time. I help them escape from their week through music; even if it’s only for a few hours.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well my name is Isaiah Wafer I’m a big fan of EDM. I make Progressive House music. My brand is Audio Induced Arousal. I can’t say it’s easy, but most of the hard part is honestly me getting out of my own way. I had to commit to making music which is a hard commitment to make, but once you do you begin to see the results. I also had to learn to invest my money into myself which is a challenge in itself especially when it doesn’t necessarily pay you back immediately. I feel like I have come a long way, but I still have so far to go. I will release my first album in June of this year which is a big first step for me. I’ve been working on music for so long so it’s finally time to show that work off. I am also working on getting into the festival scene. So that I can tour and do what I do. These are the big goals that haven’t quite come to fruition yet, but I believe that they are on their way. One of the lessons I have learned though is that you have to think of yourself in the way you want to be seen first. Opportunities started to find me after I had already put in the work. I prepare myself everyday for the day opportunities are given to me because I have to be ready for them.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have to admit I am a bit of a homebody, but there are a few places I really enjoy going. I love Fuel City Tacos. I know there are a few, but the one in Dallas on a Friday or Saturday night after the clubs close is one of my favorites. It always a really live environment with people just getting food after a night out. I’m also a big fan of Hutchins BBQ I try and stop through there every now and then. There’s a retro arcade out in Richardson that I enjoy popping into. And of course I have to give a shout out to 7th street and Uptown Dallas for their nightlife options. It’s never a dull night up there.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Well first off my parents especially my mom. You know my dad was a bit worried at first, but for my mom she knew almost immediately that what I was doing made sense. I also had their help financially when I was taking 50 dollar gigs over the weekend.

Also Lacy Stinebaugh my son’s mom. She had a lot of patience while I was finishing up my bachelors degree in Music Production and my Masters in Entertainment Business. She also fronted the bill quite a few times to help take over while I was getting some of these things off the ground. She’s been invaluable with being able to throw ideas off of her and suffering through countless hours of me creating songs. She also got me out to my first festival in the UK where I was able to see my idols. If not for that I may have gone a different route.

I also thank my brother Brandon Webb with OCMG. He’s been a huge help with distributing my music and marketing me.
