We had the good fortune of connecting with Honey George and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Honey, how does your business help the community?
I have been a self employed licensed cosmetologist for 19years. I’ve been a hairshow educator for 9 of those years.

I’ve made a lot of money, had some cool experiences, touched a lot of folks both behind the chair and in the classroom.

Once the pandemic hit, it showed me a lot of holes in my business plan because all the money I made was tied to my ability to touch people. So as a result my income went to ZERO! It forced me to look at my financial situation because I had no emergency money, no investments to draw from and no retirement in place. Not to mention, I’m getting older and tired (lol)

I stepped away for 3 years to focus on being a wife and mother… taking care of my young children (one of which has special needs)
I wanted to return to the industry but not build that same system.

So I was so excited to learn that the beauty industry was putting together a team, getting licensed in financial services, and helping our fellow industry pros and even our clients to become financially bulletproof! I began to see that there are more beauty pros who are looking for a way to retire and can’t or don’t have the right type of life insurance or no insurance at all in case they die too soon.

It’s been a wonderful ride because I get to do well for myself while doing good for others!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Most people regard self employment as a flex… which it is because you own your job, set your hours and control the direction of your business.

However there is another level in business that is after self employment and that is called entrepreneurship. With that structure, business runs with or without out me.

The challenge in self employment was that if I didn’t work then I didn’t earn anything. (Nobody pays me for a hair color service that I didn’t do)

I learned that in order to change my income, I had to hire people to help me earn!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Recently, my team and I hosted a networking brunch at RH Rooftop, Dallas. It has indoor and outdoor seating and it sits on top of a high end furniture store.

Everything on the menu tastes amazing and is presented impeccably! My fave dish is the lobster roll.

RH Rooftop is perfect for business or pleasure and it’s super “instagrammable”! It has picturesque views and gorgeous aesthetics.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shoutout to fellow beauty industry sister and team mate Cratina Webb for exposing me to a real solution to my problem in business.

I want to give a bigger shoutout to my business Coach Tony Stephens who has been a relentless force is helping me to become financially free
