Meet Hollan Black | Cookies & Castles Frisco – Event Chair

We had the good fortune of connecting with Hollan Black and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hollan, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind Cookies & Castles Frisco success is the committee’s commitment to our mission which is:
“Through sisterhood and friendship, Cookies & Castles Frisco works to bring the community together by offering a fun activity for the young, and young at heart, with a joyous gingerbread experience resulting in meaningful assistance to Scottish Rite for Children patients and their families and to Tri Deltas needing a helping hand.”
Our mission guides our approach in seeking underwriters, sponsors and guests and partnering with our designees. We focus on fun holiday cheer with a cause!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m most excited about Cookies and Castles Frisco’s future! My excitement extends to two fronts: one, as we grow gingerbread house sales and expand our event footprint, we will increase our contributions to our designees and have greater direct community impact; two, as our event(s) grow so too will our committee in terms of membership/leadership setting up Cookies & Castles Frisco for longterm success and partnership with Scottish Rite and the Tri Delta Foundation.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Without question I would bring them to the Cookies & Castles Frisco in person event on December 3 where we will have a candy wonderland inside the hospital with Santa and friends as well as holiday treats complete with large candy stations to decorate their gingerbread house in the most colorful, exciting candies! The event is a great way to start off the holiday season and round out the day visiting the Burkman Holiday Home nearby.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Cookies & Castles Frisco held our inaugural event in 2020 and without the mentorship and support of Scottish Rite for Children staff and the Dallas Cookies & Castle committee we would not have been as successful. They continued to support us and in some cases joined our committee to aid in our success. Within one year we increased our donation five times. Without their mentorship and our dedicated committee, we would not have grown the event year over year!
