Meet Heather Steele | Contemporary Resin Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Heather Steele and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Heather, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have always had a strong passion for art going back to my childhood and creating things that I love. I started selling art a few years ago, to help my son pay for his living expenses, while undergoing chemotherapy. During this time, my joy to create was re-awakened and the ability to help someone through my art.. I come from a long line of creators and it seems to run in my blood.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have owned and taught childcare/preschool for 20 plus years and have a background in nursing and elementary education. I have loved teaching throughout the years and believe that each child is special, unique and learns via different and original methods. It’s so rewarding to see what they can create just by supporting them through their creative process. Each piece of art that I create is unique just like each child that I have taught. I have found a lot of inspiration through teaching and connecting with children and their parents. I believe in action and have taught each child to follow their dreams and that there is no such thing as failure or a dumb idea. It hasn’t been easy but I believe though hard work and passion you can achieve your goals. I hope that I have inspired them and their families in some way. My Journey was started with a passion to help others and inspire others to embrace their talents.
My art will be up for auction Friday, October 21,2022 at CampFire An Artist Christmas, Fort worth Texas and My art will also be up for auction for the upcoming Jewel Charity in Fort worth in support of Cooks Children Hospital in 2023.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a Seattle artist, newly located to Texas. I absolutely love going to the Dallas Museum of Art and went to the summer Art Fest in downtown Fort Worth. There was so much to look at and find inspiration in. I have ventured out to Bishops Art District and definitely feel that awesome raw, Seattle vibe. I enjoy natural and organic food so I lean towards those places to eat. I have been to a few restaurants in Frisco, Plano and Southlake and have loved all I have seen and tasted. I’m used to farmers markets and natural grocery stores so I enjoy going to Sprouts and Central Market, they are so much fun!, I guess by now you are realizing that I love to cook and eat. I am an exercise enthusiast and cyclist, so I enjoy the outdoors and finding new places to bike and hike. One of the things I like to do is hike to water falls. I have been to the Hidden Waterfalls in Fort Worth. I have also been to the Fort Worth Zoo and have loved seeing all that it has to offer.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother who inspired me going back to my childhood. She always painted murals in my bedroom and would draw characters on the mirrors in the bathroom, so I would see it first thing in the morning, on the first day of school. It was so amazing to see what she could create with a box of colored pencils. My dad is extremely talented. He can create something breathtaking out of nothing. He once carved me a squirrel holding a pine cone, out of a piece of scrap wood he found on our property. He made our earth home years ago when so many people said that it was crazy. He had a vision and a passion to make things happen. My dad instilled in me a strong sense of work ethic and following your dreams. My stepmom has been a huge support system for me, she has always been one of my biggest supporters and always says that I can do anything along with the son and daughter. My children are now adults and seem to be following in my family’s footsteps
