Meet Heather Allen | Small Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Heather Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Heather, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
For years my heart had been burdened with the tragic stories and horrific statistics of children in foster care. My father was a foster child, and the heartbreaking stories that happened to him are sadly still happening to foster children today. I would daydream about small ways I could help, but never took real action. In 2018 something shifted in me. The burden evolved and plagued my mind relentlessly. I wanted to do something to facilitate change in our community. In my gut I knew that it was my time to step up and help these most precious children in a tangible way. I remember thinking that if I just redirected my time and energy, I could start my own company. I could earn money to give back to these children. Something that would connect me with people in my community and act as a gateway to raise awareness for local foster children. Something that would fuse my corporate business experience with my love of home and family. I started to dream big! That’s when Blue Door Cleaning was born.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

MISSION STATEMENT Loving people while serving community, one clean space at a time.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a die hard coffee lover! My absolute favorite coffee bar is at the Annie Jack Boutique on the Celina Square! They make a mean double shot dirty chai latte that I highly recommend. If tummies are rumbling I always crave Taco Crush in McKinney. Their queso is out of this world… ask them to put the spicy avocado swirl on top! I love exploring the Forth Worth Stockyards! Every time I go, I see something new! The longhorn cattle drive is always wild and you can’t beat the stories you’ll hear from the folks at the Stockyards Museum.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to Direction 61:3, an incredible organization purposed with guiding youth who are transitioning out of foster care. Myron Wilson, the executive director, has encouraged me so much and leads Direction 61:3 with love, dedication and perseverance.
