We had the good fortune of connecting with Harriette Patrick Barron and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Harriette Patrick, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
My end goal is to leave a legacy of love, hope, and courage for my children. I want to leave a pathway that they can follow in life and find their way. I hope to leave this same legacy for the world that I live in. I am hoping that any person in need of hope and inspiration, will be able to pick up anyone of my books and find what they are looking for. Even my novels are filled with hope, recovery, and love. My books are filled with imperfect people, living imperfect lives, but yet they find hope to move on in life. By the end of my career, I plan to have multiple life-changing movies, books, and television series for the public to remember me by.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I didn’t consider myself an artist, but I guess I am. One definition of an artist is a person skilled at a particular task or occupation. I have used my personal life experiences in my work as an author. I believe this sets me apart from other authors because my work and characters are usually based on people that I have met. I am excited that my work has become better with time. Throughout, trial and error, I have become somewhat satisfied with where my career is today. I do have a long way to go and a lot more books to write. I still have a lot to learn in my career. I overcame my challenges by talking to other people who have went through similar experiences. All of my books focus on healing and overcoming life’s challenges. I want the world to know that there is hope after trauma and a good life can begin at any point.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting the area I would take them to the best restaurant in town. I love to celebrate food, faith, family, and friendship. We would also visit the most flavorful relaxing coffee shops in town. If my friend had a weeklong trip we would visit museums, coffee shops, restaurants, and all kinds of unique places. We would visit flower gardens and places that exemplify beauty. In my view, places that inspire creativity, calmness, and inspiration are worth visiting.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother, Hygeia Patrick, deserves credit in my life-story. My mother has personally pushed me to go higher, reach deeper, and accomplish my dreams. She taught me to step over fear and frustration. My mother also encouraged me to use my voice, because I became very withdrawn for a time in my life. She would say, “Harriette, open your mouth!” I did and have never shut up, since that day.
