We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Bing and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hannah, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I first started making floral arrangements as gifts to my girl friends or family members and enjoyed creating unique pieces to fit their individual styles. 2020 came and the world shut down and I was a new mom at home with my son full time. I was missing working outside of the home and needed a creative outlet. I decided to poll my friends on social media to see if anyone would be interested in unique floral arrangements like the ones I’d made in the past. I included pictures of past arrangements and the feedback was so encouraging! I decided to go for it just as a hobby at first and to spread JOY to my little corner of the world. I created a specific Instagram and Facebook page to post orders I would get here and there. And then, it took off! I’ve always been more on the creative side and this business allows me to use that creativity to bring others happiness – which is a win-win in my book!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a freelance, custom floral designer. I believe what sets me apart as a designer is my dedication and communication to my client and the quality of my blooms. I work hard at making sure I am the right fit for the client and can achieve their vision for what they need whether it is a single arrangement, a custom larger piece, or a larger event including multiple pieces.

I got where I am today by making wise decisions on how to move forward. I didn’t rush the process but also I took chances when I was presented the opportunity. I have learned a lot over the last two years by taking chances, failing at some, and learning from my mistakes. Of course making mistakes in any aspect of life is tough but I overcame the challenge by reminding myself what I was doing and why. I started a floral business to bring others joy while being able to create freely and in turn, bringing myself joy. If the job was not bringing myself or the client joy, I would reevaluate what was happening and fix it. I’ve learned how to say no to certain jobs because I knew I wouldn’t be able to stay true to my core components – dedication, communication, and quality. If I can’t for certain say I can stick to those components, then I am not the best fit florist for the job and I am okay with that.

I’m most proud of my tenacity in my business endeavor. I honestly knew very little about floral design or running a business when I first started but I took the little that I did know and paired that with my grit to achieve what I have today. I’m proud of what my business is but even more excited for what is to come.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m just about 20 minutes south of Fort Worth so I am more familiar with this area than Dallas. Honestly, they feel so far apart to me even though I’ve lived here my whole life. Fort Worth has a little something for everyone I feel like. There are TONS of different types of restaurants around but to name a few favorites – Joe T’s for some great fajitas and margaritas but the atmosphere is the best part! Heim BBQ off Magnolia is a must plus you can stroll down the street for an easy afternoon date. West 7th street is a popular night life place with several bars lining the streets but I would always try to catch some Texas country live music somewhere instead. You can pretty much see live music every weekend somewhere in Fort Worth! The stockyards of course if a go-to for out of towners that want to see the more ‘country’ part of FW. You can truly make an entire weekend there!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My biggest fan and constant supporter is my better half and husband, Clay. He always, always tells me to go for it and do what makes me happy! He said from the beginning that he supported however far I want to take this endeavor whether it stayed a hobby or became a full blown business, as long as I was happy, he was, too!

My brother, Ronnie, is also a huge support. He cheered me on when I first told him I was going to start a floral business and hasn’t stopped ordering from me since!

And lastly, but definitely not least, the Flower Market on 7th St in Fort Worth has been a HUGE beacon of support to me! Specifically, Lauren has taken me under her wing and taught me SO much in the past two years. I’m not sure where I’d be in floral design world without her steadfast encouragement!
