We had the good fortune of connecting with Hanah Sadiki and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hanah, why did you pursue a creative career?
After 10+ years of working as a creative, I founded Kreative Kore, LLC. I created this agency as a safe place for entrepreneurs to explore their own ideas and develop a business on their terms with clarity, structure, and direction. I help my clients gain confidence and clarity in their branding in order to create a variety of brand visuals that resonate with their ideal client. Together, we develop a unique and engaging customer experience for their clients. I chose to pursue this creative space because I love serving as the guide to help entrepreneurs overcome frustration and lack of confidence about how to best communicate who they are, what solution they provide, and how to showcase that throughout their brand.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
To many people’s disbelief, I actually have a background in the sciences. I am a graduate of Texas State University in San Marcos, TX with a Bachelor of Science – Microbiology major and Biochemistry minor. At the time, I was on the “Pre-Med” track to become a Neonatologist (a physician that specializes in premature and high-risk babies). After graduating and working in the medical field for a few years, the growing realization that I “enjoy” science, but I don’t have a “love and passion” for the sciences was ever so present. I knew that I wanted to do something different, but just didn’t truly think that I could because hey – I just spend 4+ earning this science degree, 3+ years working in hospitals and clinics, racked up $50K+ in a science-based college education – like what else do I or can I do? I stepped away and went into self-exploration mode. I frequently did self-audits and assessments of “what does success look like for me” and “what value do I passionately want to give back to the world”.
Being creative stems from my childhood, I would always doodle (although I was definitely no good compared to my peers). In grade school – when computers and technology were becoming more omnipresent, I gravitated more towards the “digital creativity” than “pen and paper”. Throughout high school and college, I did some freelance work designing invitations, flyers, and logos. So much so that I created my own high school and college graduation invitations. Family and friends began seeing more of my work and would hint that “Hey – maybe you should make this into a business”. However, I was still battling with the notion that I have this college degree, spend all of this time and money in science, so that is what I am “supposed” to do with my life – right?! At that time, I didn’t really see entrepreneurship being my route until I began working a desk job and living that “corporate life” until I said enough is enough!! So, I took that leap of faith! Let’s just say, I haven’t looked back since.
Back then, entrepreneurship was not really highlighted as a viable option and “career path” that graduates and young adults should take. It was treated more like “do this hobby on the side while you work your 9-5” instead of “let’s build a business that allows me to solve people’s problems based on my unique skill set or process that I have”. Yes – there is sacrifice, risk, and uncertainty in the world of entrepreneurship, but the same goes for life in general – no matter who you are. One of my overarching goals is to shine light on the possibilities and resources of entrepreneurship. So many people have AMAZING ideas and innovations, so I love helping them nurture their crafts and help them create opportunities for their future. The absence of a higher-level education, professional background, or particular expertise should not close the door to the possibilities with entrepreneurship!!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh this is a tough one because Houston, TX is VERY diverse in food, culture and the arts. There are so many great places to eat and visit! When people come into town, some common places are The Museum District, Downtown, The Galleria (landscape was recently renovated), Memorial / Memorial Park (new renovations coming soon), and Midtown (many bars and cultural hidden gems).
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shout-out to my family, friends, and my husband for their support throughout this entrepreneurial journey. It is a hard journey to be on, but definitely more rewarding!!
