We had the good fortune of connecting with Hailie Sam and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hailie, why did you pursue a creative career?
I was raised by my artistic mother. I began my journey as an artist after the loss of my grandparents in 2018 and 2020. Art became therapeutic with helping me navigate anxiety and grief. My color palettes are nature inspired. The transitions of colors, gestural marks, and flow of paints across the canvas help connect me to my emotions and promote ideas of self-awareness and mindfulness.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My passion is abstract art. Deciding to actually pursue art as a business was a tough decision. It was so personal for me. Each piece I connected so deeply with. After deciding to share my works, the feed back I received and what others felt when viewing my art truly sparked my passion not only to create but to share. It was not easy in the beginning because I decided to heavily pursue during the beginning of the pandemic and then relocating from Kansas to Dallas. But I met amazing people along the way. That not only encouraged but motivated me to continue in my journey.

What I would like the world to know about my story is Art is healing.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
a few musts are Pangea, Perot museum, Klyde warren park, GO Kart racing in Grandscape, a fun day of roller coaster rides at six flags, and food at legacy food hall.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother- Yvonne. A creative who pushed me to paint in my younger years by purchasing paint by numbers and again as an adult by encouraging and supporting me and my passion to create.
