We had the good fortune of connecting with Greg Shepard and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Greg, what matters most to you?
“Always Seek Truth” is a guiding principle of mine that illuminates the path we walk in life, providing us with a more reliable map to navigate the complexities of our world. Embracing this philosophy, I have consistently strived to uncover the essence of reality, to prioritize verifiable facts over subjective opinions, and to employ critical thinking as a guiding light in lieu of impulsive emotional responses. My deep-rooted love for nonfiction literature has proven instrumental in this pursuit, as it equips me with a toolbox of knowledge, a lens through which I can see the world more clearly.
Incorporating this principle into both my personal and professional life has yielded numerous benefits. Armed with facts and truth, I have found myself making more informed decisions, a valuable skill that transcends the boundaries of personal choices and extends into the realm of business. In the ever-evolving landscape of entrepreneurship, being equipped with an accurate map is invaluable. It has empowered me to adapt to change, embrace innovation, and navigate through challenges with a clear sense of direction.
This principle resonates profoundly within the operations of my house cleaning business. We are acutely aware that to provide exceptional service, we must first grasp the truth of our clients’ needs and expectations. To achieve this, we have ingrained customer feedback into our standard operating procedures. Our customers are our most reliable compass, indicating where we stand, applauding what we are excelling at, and highlighting the areas in which we can improve.
But our commitment to truth doesn’t stop there. We believe in the power of pay by performance. By translating the truth of our customers’ feedback into tangible bonuses and raises for our dedicated cleaning staff, we inspire them to rise above and beyond in their commitment to excellence. In this way, the pursuit of truth becomes a profound motivator, fostering a culture of continuous improvement that sets new standards for quality in our industry.
In essence, “Always Seek Truth” is not just a maxim but a way of life, a lens through which I view the world, and a driving force behind the success of my business. It reminds us that the journey of understanding and improvement is ongoing, and by embracing the truth, we can travel that journey with clarity, integrity, and purpose. As the author E. Lockhar once wrote, it is better to “see the word as it is, not as you wish it would be”

Dallas Maids is not just a house cleaning service; it’s a solution to a common problem that so many of us face. We recognize that while our homes should be a sanctuary where we can relax and create cherished memories, the demands of daily life often leave us stressed and overwhelmed by clutter, dust, and cleaning chores. Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Day 1: Spend the day at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. My wife and I have a family pass and can stay here for most of the day. Bring your lunch to eat on one of the many grass knolls then enjoy a leisurely a leisurely stroll through beautiful gardens.
After the garden, enjoy a vegetarian mean at Kalachandji, one of my favorite restaurants, just down the road. You’ll love the Zen atmosphere. Then, if you have some spare time, head to White Rock Lake, where you can rent a paddleboat or bike to explore the scenic surroundings and work off some of those calories from Kalachandji.
Day 2: Strolling on the infamous grassy knoll is a must after exploring the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza. Afterwards drive a little south to take a tour of the historic Bishop Arts District, known for its boutique shops and unique art galleries. Afterwards, enjoy dinner at the lively atmosphere and Latin cuisine at Gloria’she original one is near the Bishop Art District.
Day 3: If my friend has kids, then a day at the Dallas Zoo is a must. My wife brings our kids here a few times a year. For lunch, I recommend grabbing a bite at the Wildsides Cafe within the zoo.
Day 4: Rest. Just hang out with my friend and enjoy each other’s company.
Day 5: Head to Pecan Lodge in Deep Ellum for mouthwatering Texas barbecue – my wife loves this place! Then an afternoon strolling through deep Ellum and visiting the unique shops would be fun. If we stay long enough, enjoy one of the many bars and taverns.
Day 6: Explore Sundance Square in Fort Worth, known for its shopping, dining, and entertainment. The kids may enjoy the daily herd walk. For lunch, the Tex-Mex cuisine at Joe T. Garcia’s is a must! You’ll love how when entering this seemingly small restaurant, it turns out that it keeps going on and on – it’s almost magical.
Day 7: Another day of rest. Seriously, you don’t want to wear out your company. Though if we have enough energy after all all these activities, maybe take them for dinner at The Rustic, an outdoor restaurant with live music and a great atmosphere.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Forgive me if this is not appropriate, though I would like to recommend myself again, to be interviewed for my other company, Emily’s Maids 🙂
