We had the good fortune of connecting with Gracie Howard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gracie, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Looking back at my cosmetology school days, I would never guess I would be achieving my career goal sooner than later. I didn’t think about how going in a suite meant you needed a clientele (I was young and naive, can’t blame me for not knowing too much, haha), but I knew that was the career goal. I love being a hairstylist and salons, but being in my own place where I can follow my own path and work in a space meant for me and my amazing clientele! Moving into a suite after a little over three years of being a hairstylist was definitely a challenging step to actually get to. I had my clients follow me from salons when I moved to Denton from Frisco, but even that was a big ask. I appreciate the support I got when I first moved in to my suite! It was so exciting and overwhelming getting to work in my own creative safe space!
My goal for the suite is a chill, safe, cozy space where my clients can relax and not have to worry about anything! I believe the goal has been met, but I still continue to show how grateful I am to each and every one of my clients for coming in!
Being a business owner means being independent. Independence is a risk, but it’s important because you never realize anything until you do it.

What should our readers know about your business?
In the hair world, you’re always learning! I have had some great education classes as a stylist and I continue my education online as well! (It’s free on social media!) I consider myself a cut specialist, but I love balayages, vivid colors like rainbows and any type of alternative style of color/cut! I’m so glad I get some of those clients who want the fun, crazy colors and the results are absolutely AMAZING!
I want people walking out of my suite feeling confident in who they are! I want them to feel beautiful, handsome, stunning, sexy, ready for date night, etc.! Hyping my clients with their hair is definitely another favorite of mine! I love talking about the different type of styles my clients can do with their new haircuts!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Denton is full of different things to do! There’s a lot of festivals and markets that pop up all of the time! If I was planning on showing Denton around to a friend, we’d start with (obviously) my suite, hahah! Grab a bite to eat in the square and walk around to see the different businesses. There’s a cool candy shop on the square, so we’ll for sure go there! Denton is also a college town with two universities! The famous ‘Fry Street’ is where all of the bars and college life live, but if you’re wanting more shopping, you can a turn at Loop 288 for Target, Walmart, Ulta, all of it!

Since I originally grew up in Frisco, I’d take them to Stonebriar Mall, The Star and so many more areas! Frisco has been growing so fast that I love to come back and visit to see what’s new.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I always dedicate my love and support to my parents. They are always going to have my back and I appreciate everything they have done for me in my life. Growing up, you really start to understand your parents just want you to be happy and safe. I never truly understood that until I moved out back in 2021.

I also have to thank all of my friends and clients who support me as a hairstylist! I want everyone who supports me to know that I appreciate you and thank you for being here with me and coming to get your hair done!
