We had the good fortune of connecting with Grace Rabia Wood and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Grace Rabia, what’s the most difficult decision you’ve ever had to make?
The most difficult decision I have ever had to make was to leave my 20 year marriage. I had to now put into practice all the things, I advise people to do; which is to choose YOU. To show myself the unconditional love first, before I could show it to any other human being. I realized my error of thinking that divorce hurts children, but I quickly realized that it was the relational dysfunction that hurts children. Because of making the decision to leave, I realized that there is nothing that I can not overcome in this life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The Grace Experience was founded in 2016. We podcast, write books, create material, TikTok, Youtube and this is to encourage people to live successful lives. We are mental health advocates. There is no need to suffer. What sets us apart from others is that we combine our spirituality and everyday to create a beautiful balance. This method not only promotes healing, but enables people to maintain their healing. I am most proud of the book I wrote which is a Diary/Journal called “A Wealth Of Healing: The Truth Series and I co- authored a book called :Experience God’s Grace with Affirmations.
Getting to where I am today was not easy. I overcame the challenges (that because I was the first person in my family to do things that was never done before) by reminding myself that there was no blueprint. I dug my heels in and remained resilient. As an immigrant ( Born and raised in South Africa), I am most proud about the barriers that have been broken. Mental health was not a focus. I am able to reach others that have the same background and encouraging them that asking for help does not mean that one is weak. The lesson Ive learned in this journey is to be apologetically YOU and always stand in your truth! When you stand in your truth, you stand in your power!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would tell my best friend to come during Fall/Winter as Texas Summers are brutal! We would go to eat at Kitchen + Kocktails in downtown Dallas as the food is amazing especially the shrimp and grits. Also eat at Pangea one night, it is located in Garland, Tx. They have the best jerk leg of lamb. I love being active! We would go hiking at the Cedar Ridge Preserve! It has so many hiking trails and is so beautiful. The rest of the week, I’d cook at home as my bestie loves my cooking. We would go shopping at North Park and the Galleria.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My children, Layla, Selah and Aaliyah deserve a lot of credit. They are brutally honest and are my number one cheerleaders and supporters. When I look at them, I am always reminded of my ‘WHY”. My friend Teresa Ngene always pushes me to be better and bigger. She sees what I don’t. My first mentor Letitia Scott opened a new world to me and I am forever grateful for her. The book Attached by Amir Levine completely changed my life and helped me become an expert on ME. It changed my behavior in relationships.
I am supported by so many amazing people like my church friends/family, Tiffany Young, Deminion Small and Tamara Oliver.
