We had the good fortune of connecting with Goretti Tibeme and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Goretti, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My family gave me the push quite honestly. I was hesitant because it’s such a huge leap of faith to put your work out there for people to judge. We went back and forth for months on whether I should start up my business and they gave me the courage to take the leap and I am so grateful I did! I Love to create and with balloons you can do just about anything. I started out doing balloons setups for family friends, posted pictures for just my friends and family to see and it was such a huge hit. I received messages left and right from people wanting me to do balloons for them as well and it grew from there. I created my buisness and loved it. I wish I could go back and tell myself that no matter what you do in life people will always judge you so don’t let that stop you from going after your dreams.

What should our readers know about your business?
I became very interested in events when I was 18. I loved seeing beautiful events but also wanted to know the behind-the-scenes that bring it to life. Besides being an event stylist, am also known as a treat maker. So, I started watching a lot of YouTube videos, doing a lot of practice, and perfecting my skills by doing decorations, baking, and planning events for family and friends. Which turned out amazing. They complimented, paid for my work, and helped me validate it is my calling. So, I decided to launch my business in 2018 in Arlington, TX. Most of my referrals were from family and friends and that’s when it all took off. I opened a branch in Cameroon my (home country) to help people celebrate their loved ones too. It’s a PASSION! 4 years now am still planning events and bringing smiles to my clients’ faces, by making their events special with beautiful memories. NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF REFERRING

We all face challenges, building my business has definitely had its ups and downs. At first, there was a bit of self-doubt. Debating if I would succeed and if I made the right choice to start something on my own. I made a lot of mistakes in the beginning, but I took those mistakes to heart and learned from them. It’s made me a better person today. I’ve also never started a business, so I had to teach myself everything. With so much information available online, I would spend most of my time just watching videos, reading, and soaking in as much as I could. The roadblocks I’ve encountered along the way have sparked tremendous growth and insight into not only my business but also myself. Economic downturns have been challenging too, but each time they have happened, they have pushed me to do better. This has been especially true during the COVID pandemic. I don’t give up easily, and this natural inclination toward perseverance has allowed me to pivot and grow through difficult times.

Comelymoments is an event decorating and planning business. I specialize in organic balloon garlands, balloon walls, and custom balloon designs for special events, corporate events, and everything in between. I also specialize in cakes and treats for all events, which am well known for, because who doesn’t love to celebrate with cake!? I get excited to be part of someone’s special celebration and am honored when they trust me enough to recommend me to others.

What sets me apart is customer service – the majority of my clients are repeated clients and I am very proud of that. My creativity and quality of work too. I only work with the highest quality brands of balloons to ensure lasting balloons and also being able to create custom colors to execute a client’s vision.

I am most proud of my GROWTH. Not quitting and still pushing through all the challenges of running a business.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Arlington texas is always growing and new spots are popping up constantly so there’s always stuff to do. Being in between Dallas and Fort Worth has it’s perks also. Arlington has Six flags over Texas, Hurricane harbor, The Rangers stadium and the AT&T Stadium. In that area there is also Texas Live! Which is always a good time. Good food and plenty of drinks. They’re always hosting events as well. There are also several places to visit in Fort Worth, a nice bike ride at Trinity River. Some awesome places to eat like Heims BBQ. Food trucks are some of the best spots to get food in Fort Worth. Calisience for the best Birria Tacos in DFW.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I would like to give all praise to God for allowing me to get this far because without him I would not be where I am today. I would like to give a special thanks to all my family and friends who actually support me. I would like to dedicate this shoutout to the clients who support my business and encourge me to continue to do the work that I am called to do.
Most importantly, I would like to give a special shoutout to my parents for always being such great parents and instilling the wisdom and knowledge that I needed to succeed in life. Without them, there would be no me because they have taught me how to be the great intelligent woman I am today. I can go on and on but then I would be all day. Therefore, I would like to end this by saying it is an honor to have such great parents.
