Meet Glenn Franklin | Actor, Massage Therapist.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Glenn Franklin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Glenn, how do you think about risk?
Well to be honest, I love risk. Because without risk you don’t get anything or anywhere in life. Can you imagine where you’d be if your dad or your mom didn’t risk everything and ask one another out? Risk is a threshold that you must pass through to get what you want in life. Meaning if you don’t take the risk and you play it safe, you will either lead a boring and unfulfilled life or you risk it all and try and succeed in getting what you want. Regret is something that can affect you forever. So I happen to believe in “No More Regrets”, which means that if I believe that I will regret taking a risk by not doing it I am doing it. I have never been shy and if you know me, as long as it is a great thing to do with amazing rewards I will do what needs to be done to get what I want. I know that life is a series of risks so I choose to not play it safe. That is why I chose to step into theatre and film and not be afraid to audition, or act stupid, or play, or crack a joke because I live life to the fullest and that is a risk that is alright with me. Nothing ventured nothing gained for if you take the adventure your life won’t be lame.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an actor in the DFW area and I specialize in commercials, films, voice overs, singing, dancing, acting, directing, producing, and writing. I have won awards for all of this but the thing that I am most proud of is the love of my family. For without them I would not be able to be the husband and father that I am today. I love you all. I got where I am today by taking risks. From my first audition at 14 for Bye Bye Birdie at Everman High School where I had to audition in my football pants, to auditioning for Texas Wesleyan University for their theatre dept, to auditioning for multiple theatre companies at the UPTA’ auditions in Memphis Tennessee, to doing shows all across the country, and finally auditioning and creating writing and producing my first film and beyond by excelling in it and winning awards. I am now 44 and and realizing that I have achieved a lot because I didn’t quit. It was not easy but A little difficulty never killed me so I persevered. And yet I still have a long ways to go. What sets me apart is my willingness to help anyone. I remember one time when I was on the national tour of A Christmas Carol as Bob Cratchitt and Fezziwig, we had just gotten to Minneapolis, MN and I didn’t know a soul, but a homeless man came up and asked me for money. I told him I won’t give you money but I will take you to dinner tonight if you will show me your favorite restaurant. His eyes got really big and he was like for real? I said for real. We had a lovely dinner at a Cajun restaurant, I forget the name but he told me that he became homeless when his parents died and had been on the streets since he was 18. He was trying to get his life together because he wanted to get his daughter back in his life. He was so shocked at my generosity that he cried. He told me he would never forget me. That made me happy to affect his life in a positive way. I feel like the ways that I stand out are the practicing of the lessons I have learned along the way. Which are to be a good person first, for you are judged by your character. Make people laugh by cracking a joke every now and again for humor can show your personality. Love everyone and love deeply. Don’t be fake. Keep commitments for if you don’t you are untrustworthy. Let hate go because it can eat you up. Feel everything and be real. And try your best to achieve your dreams at all cost. Don’t quit! Don’t quit! I repeat Don’t quit! My brand is a big hearted man that loves everyone of all colors, creeds, and nationalities, genders, and lifestyles. I will always be prepared and will outwork you for any role. I will not give up and after it is over I forget about it. I love my family and will do anything to help others achieve their goals. For when all boats rise we succeed! I love you all!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
That’s easy, I would take them to eat at La Madelines and get a lavender creme brûlée. Then go to whatever movie that he would like to see because that is his life. We would go to several museums and and then just hang at his house because he is mostly a home body.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout is to my acting coach Glenn Morshower, who is not only a famous actor but he is an amazing mentor as well as an inspiration to all of us in his class. He has developed The Extra Mile Working Actors Workshop where he not only teaches us tips and tricks about acting but he enriches our lives by teaching us life lessons to make us better people. He is the most down to earth person and will be nothing but honest with you. He is the most humble person for being a star and the life lessons that I have learned from him are priceless. Thank you Glenn from the bottom of my heart for all you do! I love you my friend!
