We had the good fortune of connecting with Gina Scholl and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gina, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
The value that matters most to me is respect. I believe that respecting myself and respecting others around me is extremely important. I believe respect is one of the foundational values that leads to kindness, dignity, equality, and love. I think the world feeds on confusion, fear, hate and insecurities to distract us that we have all of the tools, values, and principals we need to live peacefully to respect ourselves and each other.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been a hair artist for 17 years and I am most proud that in 2017, I founded a network for barbers and beauty artists called Beauty Blessings Ministry. This network was for licensed professionals who wanted to serve God through their business. I hoped that there were other artists passionate to serve their community and their creator and that if we could be connected we could spread hope across the nation. It is has been almost four years and we are now a 501c3 nonprofit with artists representing 8 different US states.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting I would take them to downtown Waxahachie for BBQ, ice cream and shopping. They have a whole town of antique stores and boutiques all along a cute Main Street block. They have a ton of handmade artwork too that I love to browse. I get excited to bring something home that is one of a kind that you can see someone was passionate to create themselves. They also have the meat church BBQ store where I buy my favorite seasoning “Holy Gospel” which is my go to for Sunday brunch after church

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate this shout out to the barber and beauty artists in Beauty Blessings Ministry. The men and women I serve alongside in the community with who continue to inspire me every day. We share mutual respect and love for not only each other, but for the guests we serve in the community every month. It is a common ground that begins by meeting a basic grooming need that allows open communication of dignity and kindness to be spread.
