Meet Gina Morell | Wardrobe Consultant and Virtual Stylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Gina Morell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gina, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I have always loved clothes and shopping and have worked in fashion for over 20 years for amazing companies such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Tom Ford. I utilize my experience, skills and knowledge of clothing and styling everyday in my business as a Wardrobe Consultant and Virtual Stylist. However, I attribute my success to more than my ability to know which colors, fabrics and silhouettes are most flattering. My true passion is a skill that cannot be learned and it is what I attribute most to my success and that is increasing my clients’ confidence though great personal style.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a Wardrobe Consultant and Virtual Stylist, I get to shop and style clients for a living. There is not a day that goes by that I feel like it is “work” because I truly love what I do which is making my clients’ lives less stressful when deciding what to wear and what to buy. My goal is that my clients feel confident in any room they walk into because when you know you look good, you can just feel it!
Getting here took a lot of work and over 20 years experience completely immersed in fashion and working with both men and women from all lifestyles and budgets. It is important to be able to quickly assess what my client’s comfort zone is and the appropriate amount to nudge them out of it…even if it is slightly. This is a skill I possess and one that sets me apart based on the facts that once clients begin to work with me, they continue to do so. That, to me, is the greatest compliment I can receive!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I recently moved to Dallas from LA and it has been an adventure exploring all that this exciting city has to offer! Dallas is full of wonderful culinary experience, diverse cultures and of course, top tier shopping!
When I have clients or friends in town, we begin the day walking the Katy Trail and treating our hard work with a delicious iced coffee at Rose Cafe. It is charming and easy to get on and off the trail. If we want a more challenging work out, I take to them to Training Mate Highland Park for a HIIT class. Training Mate also has a dynamic community vibe where everyone is welcomed, encouraged and motivated to health and wellness.
Next, we head over to Highland Park Village, after a shower of course haha, to browse the luxe shops in search of something we cannot live without…or that I can talk them into which I am told I am very effective at doing! Shopping works up an appetite and we are still burning calories from class, so we enjoy lunch right there in Highland Park Village at either Bistro 31 or Honor Bar. I moved from LA and Honor Bar was one of my regular go tos for drinks and food that isn’t fancy but it is delicious so I was thrilled that we have one here in Dallas too! Bistro 31 feels very lavish and the staff and food are all unforgettable!
We also plan an afternoon to spend at NorthPark Mall. It has a diverse collection of retailers for every style, every body and every budget. If I am with my friends, I am for sure styling them and encouraging them to try clothes on and show them all the ways they can use it with clothing they already own. Plus, if we are trying to get 10000 steps in for the day, the mall is an ideal place to do that. It is expansive and air conditioned!
I play the drums for fun so we head over to Guitar Center where I take lessons and they can hang out while I play. I choose the songs to play depending on what I am feeling in that moment. For me, drumming is about becoming one with the songs that move me, not just about great beats or grooves.
I love to introduce people so when I have friends in town, I always plan a night out with my crew here in Dallas. There has been a lot of new hot restaurants opening in Dallas. Recently, I enjoyed a fun night out at Evelyn in the Arts District. Walking in there was very reminiscent of old Hollywood glam with current Dallas vibes. The entire staff was friendly and went above and beyond in every interaction, The drinks were divine and the food was incredible. The ladies room has flattering lighting and plenty of mirror so of course we had to get a few selfies. Oh and did I mention they also have a free Champagne cart that is served to you while you are in there?
There is also amazing Mexican food here and if my friends are visiting from places that aren’t as lucky to have it, Mesero and Muchacho are legit! I judge all Mexican/Tex Mex cuisine by their chips and salsa and these two places are top of my list perfection!
Although I play the drums, my other fave music genre is EDM and Silo is a super cool venue to check out my favorite DJ’s. the sound system is superior and the lights add to all of the sensory overload.
After all of the working out, shopping, drumming and dancing, we would indulge in a massage at WOW massage salon. It is a great way to add to our self care.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout is to my mom who was also my best friend. I have fond memories of Saturday shopping trips with her when I was growing up. My mom always looked beautiful and always well put together but she always did it on a budget. We would spend hours shopping the sales and finding discounts. She was never motivated by designer labels but rather clothing that was flattering and could be styled with pieces she already owned. As a result, I always knew I wanted to work in the glamourous fashion industry and my mom was my biggest supporter as my endeavors took me everywhere from New York City to Beverly Hills. While i do appreciate luxury, I do not believe you need to be wearing head to toe designer to look and feel confident.
