We had the good fortune of connecting with George Stricklin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi George, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always been creative whether it was producing music or creating videos. After graduating high school, I pursued becoming a music producer as a career. In 2002, I produced a song for a rap artist by the name of LIL’ FLIP. The song landed on his first major album with Sony Records entitled “The Underground Legend.” The album went Gold and then Platinum. After I left the music industry, I became interested in videography and photography. In 2005, I started my Photography/Videography business called Soul Fishing Media. I landed my first contract with my local school district to provide media services to the athletic department. I saw a need that I felt would enhance player recruitment as well as take away the stress from coaches who were trying to film games, produce highlight films, and break down game films. Since then, I’ve managed to work with other school districts providing media services such as digital content creation, website maintenance, building social media presence, and developing strategies for community engagement through media content. I’ve always known that entrepreneurship was the way for me. Besides being an entrepreneur, I’m also a Minister & Motivational Speaker. I have a passion for motivating and leading others towards positive transformation. I often use my life’s story about the challenges I’ve faced to help others get through the challenges and adversities that life has thrown at them. My faith in GOD has brought me through dark times such as suicide attempts, depression, and low self-esteem. My calling is to help lead others out of darkness and it’s something that I’m very passionate about.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My attention to detail and creative vision set me apart from others. I strive to infuse whatever I do with excellence, authenticity, and emotion. Whether I’m preaching, giving motivational speeches, creating online content, or taking pictures for my clients, I put my all into my work. I aim to resonate deeply with my viewers/listeners and create results for my clients that will leave them speechless.

What I’m most proud of is the journey I’ve taken to get where I am today. It hasn’t been easy, but it’s been incredibly rewarding. The lessons I’ve learned through the challenges I’ve faced are invaluable, but most of all my journey has strengthened my faith.

Professionally, I’ve worked tirelessly to hone my craft and establish myself in the videography/ photography world, and as a social media content creator. It’s been a journey filled with challenges, setbacks, and moments of doubt. But through perseverance, faith, and determination, I’ve overcome each obstacle that has come my way.

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned along the way is the importance of resilience. No matter how many times I’ve faced rejection or failure, I’ve always picked myself up and kept pushing forward. Each setback has only made me stronger and more determined to succeed.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that what I do is a reflection of who I am as a person. I consider myself creative, inspiring, and compelling. Whether I’m communicating with my audience through visual communication or in a professional setting, it’s a way for me to express myself and connect with others on a deeper level. I hope that my work inspires others to pursue their purpose in life, embrace their creativity, and step into their calling.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite spots in Dallas is the Tower Club at Thanksgiving Tower. It’s on the 48th floor and it has spectacular views of downtown/uptown Dallas. The food is amazing as well! The Omni Hotel in downtown Dallas is one of my favorite spots that my wife and I often retreat to. The Star at Frisco is another area I visit frequently and would take friends and family to experience. There’s plenty of restaurants and entertainment to choose from at the Star District. I’d close out the weekend at Klyde Warren park on Sunday evening. It’s a great place to relax and take in some sunshine. The various food truck vendors on site provide a variety of foods to choose from.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would first like to give thanks to GOD for my life and for being the main source of my existence and achievements. To my Mother, the late Doris Stricklin for her unwavering love & support of me. She was the first person to ever invest in me. To my Father, George Stricklin, Sr., for showing me what being a provider is. All I’ve ever seen my Father do since I was young was work hard. Next, I want to thank my wife, Linnette Stricklin for supporting me through the good and the bad. She has been my #1 supporter in every endeavor. She’s responsible for a lot of my success. To my best friend/brother Ken Tatum, who has been there for me through it all. Thank you for your friendship and for holding me accountable. To my business mentor, Marcus J. Carey, thank you for challenging me to step outside my comfort zone. Certain things I wouldn’t have accomplished if it wasn’t for you nudging me. Not only did you nudge me, but you also helped to guide me throughout the process.
