We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabriel Veasley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gabriel, how do you think about risk?
Risks are necessary to make progression in one’s purpose.
As an individual who has an entrepreneurial mindset, taking calculated risks have played a major role in my life. Any major achievement or milestone I have reached thus far is because I saw the big picture with the opportunity and took the risk. I realized early on in my career that my edge was that I was willing to do what others would not, which set me apart in my field. Some people are naturally more risk averse than others and I am definitely more risk tolerant than the average person. I use what others see as risk to my advantage in order to break down barriers that would otherwise delay my progression towards my purpose.
Perhaps one of the biggest and most challenging risk a person can take is faith. Faith in its true essence is releasing control, doubts and fear in a situation and putting complete trust and confidence in the plan. As a business strategist and dealmaker I make lots of plans based on many factors. The successful ones however are always in alignment with God’s plan for my life and my purpose. I have always had the gift of faith which has allowed me to have extreme confidence in any situation and persevere through any obstacle in my way.
Overall risk is inherent to everyday life and is unavoidable in some capacity. You simply decide how much risk is worth taking with your life choices. It clicked for me when I realized the most valuable resource is time and how limited it really was. Everything I do is to build for my family and our future generations, so I have to make the most of the time that I have. By taking bigger risk I increase the landscape of how much I can accomplish in my lifetime.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am what you call a serial entrepreneur. I have businesses in the cell phone industry, real estate and I am a licensed CPA (Certified Public Accountant), but before I can tell you about that I have to tell you about my purpose. My life’s purpose is to educate others on how how to create and maintain their own resources. So far in my career I have focused on that purpose primarily from the entrepreneurial perspective.
I am very excited to share my latest business Connected Coworking, which actually allows me to live out my purpose in all of my businesses! Our mission is to connect entrepreneurs with the resources that they need to be successful. The concept originated in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. I have always had a passion for entrepreneurs especially small businesses and I am also very ambitious about commercial real estate. During that time I decided to pursue acquiring an office building and throughout that process I began to brainstorm how I could combine my passion for the entrepreneur and my ambition for real estate. Some of the things that I realized during that process were that there are a lot of knowledge and resource gaps for less established entrepreneurs. On top of there already being a tremendous gap, the pandemic had magnified how big these gaps really were and a lot of small businesses were struggling to stay in business. Coming from a background where I had to learn how to overcome a lot of those same barriers on my own to get where I am today I naturally felt inclined to create something to do the same for others. On the other end of the spectrum the pandemic had also created a surge of new found entrepreneurs as a result of massive job loss and Americans needing to find new ways to provide for their families. The fruit of that process became the conception of Connected Coworking.
Fast forward to late 2021 I had the opportunity to create some key partnerships that allowed me to bring that concept to life right in the heart of Downtown Dallas. To answer the question if it was easy, yes in a sense. The entire Connected Coworking Dallas project has been God ordained and everything we have needed to make the vision a realty came to us naturally. But to whom much is given much is required, so it has taken a tremendous amount of work and sacrifice to be able to be good stewards of the blessing God gave us. We officially opened our doors in February 2022 which is the first resource that we are connecting entrepreneurs with.
Connected Coworking Dallas is a flexible workspace equipped with shared workspaces, private offices, modern conference rooms, accessible technology and foundational business amenities. Our goal with the physical space is to lower the barrier of entry for a professional workplace. Whether its a young professional breaking into entrepreneurship, such as, a lawyer, accountant, consultant etc. needing a professional place to meet with their clients. Someone with a mobile/remote based or ecommerce business needing a professional address to boost their business credibility. Or even someone who is interested into getting into entrepreneurship and wants to be in an environment of like-minded individuals. Our physical space, however, is just the beginning of the resources that we are connecting entrepreneurs with.
We are intentionally building a community based environment of like-minded individuals. With a culture of contributing to the community in addition to benefiting from it. We are utilizing our network of sponsors/partners to provide educational programming via workshops, conferences, community events etc. As well as working hand in hand with local leaders to provide mentorship programs and much more!
We are truly developing the next generation of entrepreneurs!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Anytime you are in Dallas getting food and drinks at Gloria’s is a must, so we’d definitely start there. Then we’d head over to the modern art museum in Fort Worth for some culture. Next stop would be exploring Downtown Dallas and the AT&T discovery district. You can’t go wrong with a good steak for dinner so we would go to the Monarch in Downtown Dallas that has not only great steaks but also surprisingly the best ice cream I have every tasted.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe everything that I have to God and I am grateful for the path that he has placed me on. With that being said God does use people to carry out his plan and that definitely has been the case in my life.
There is a long list of individuals that have positively impacted my life, such as, family, friends, co-workers etc. Most of whom would say that they look to me to inspire them in their own respective crafts, but the truth is for me it goes both ways. The same individuals that look up to me give me the motivation to continue walking in my purpose. Seeing them grow and develop in their own purposes definitely makes a huge impact on my own drive.
There is one individual out of this list that I have to mention and that’s N’Kima Russell. She is a multidisciplinary aspiring entrepreneur who is actually the one who nominated me for this interview. If you ask her she will say that I am a mentor to her that has always been there to support her in her journey, but God has always placed her in my path at pivotal times of my own journey and for that I am forever grateful.
