We had the good fortune of connecting with Frenchaire Gardner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Frenchaire, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?

“I expand in abundance, success, and love every day, as I inspire those around me to do the same.”

Every day that I meditate, I say or think this affirmation along with 2 more abundance affirmations using the free Insight Timer app. This affirmation helps with manifesting abundance. It is aligned with my desire to manifest abundance of all forms into my life. Because I know that the Universe holds enough resources for all of us. You just have to will the goodness to you.

I like this affirmation because it opens the Universe to creating opportunities for abundance, success, and love to show up in my life. I witness the overflow of goodness and abundance that occur daily: From winning giveaways, to new opportunities to share who I am; to people reaching out to be on my podcast A News You Can Use Podcast; guest appearances on podcasts; and being shown grace. This affirmation is my reality. I call those things to be that do not exist.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an artist who uses painting as art therapy to heal trauma. Took an introduction to painting class in St. Louis a few summers ago. I enjoyed it a lot. I missed a few of the classes instructing us on painting the details; that is why I enjoy painting abstract and mixed media collages.

When I paint it’s for relaxation and meditation. I light incense, candles, and sage. Then I get really quiet to hear from Spirit about what to paint in that sitting. I enjoy painting pieces that have meaning but some pieces I paint just because.

My journey started with creating my business Be And Us LLC in 2017. I was seeking a way to leverage my time with my own business. I started selling my friend’s children’s books and doing her public relations and marketing. I designed t-shirts for an event that I hosted. Then I bought a multi-family apartment building in St. Louis with inherited tenants. After that, I started manufacturing shea butter from Nigeria. That was so much fun whipping and packaging the shea butter for folks. I also sell other Black Business owners’ products: The English Schoolhouse books, Dail Chambers’s Nu Mobile Healing products, Amber Book Store’s books, and currently The Buy Black Campaign’s 100th Commemoration of Black Wall Street Hoodies and T-shirts.

In St. Louis, I rediscovered my creative artist self through acting in plays throughout the Midwest; modeling in runway fashion shows and photoshoots, and co-hosting a public radio show. All of these ventures led me to where I currently am. Now, I present my paintings and artistry to the world. And you can find my paintings on cool merchandise like t-shirts, shower curtains, blankets, bags, prints, and more on my Threadless and Spring Artist Shops. I love creating.  You can also buy and stream my new instrumental album Supernova Universe on Apple Music, Amazon Music, Spotify, and SoundCloud.  I produced these instrumental beats with love.  Jam with me! 🙂

I am most proud that some of my paintings are currently being displayed in a digital virtual gallery sponsored by M4 Women’s Magazine.  One of my beats Afro Futuristic Hip Hop is featured.  You can view the gallery on my YouTube channel because it may be down before this is published.  I am proud that I am producing content that brings joy and peace to others.  And I am excited that my painting “First Bloom” is featured in London’s No Name Collective Gallery April 2021 Issue.  You can view my art on their social media and their YouTube.  I am truly grateful and proud of two book projects that I am working on titled Mommy and Daddy Do You Still Love Me Anymore? and an anthology titled Finding Joy in the Journey Vol. 2:  During Difficult Times which is a collaboration by the Visionary Vernessa Blackwell and 90 other co-authors.  The first book is about my life.  The universal message is to give hope to children that are adopted and in foster care.  Both paperbacks will be published this year.

I face many challenges as a new artist like how do I get my paintings and products sold?  How do I price my art? Where do I sell my art? Also, how do I monetize my podcast?  How do I market everything I do most effectively?  I am working on answers to these questions. I recently consulted with several business coaches about how to market my paintings and products. Slowly, I am applying their methods to the way I move. I asked experts for help because I only know what I know and that is limited.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Traveling around Dallas is fun with all of its super tall highways. If my friend was visiting, I would take them to Velvet Taco for the best tacos. We would hang out anywhere in Uptown Dallas or at the Klyde Warren Park. We’d travel down Malcolm X Blvd. to Sunny South Dallas to Lincoln HS as an Ode to Sunny South Dallas. Visiting the Fair Park is amazing during the Grambling vs. Prairie View Game. This will give a glimpse of the culture that I grew up in.

On top of the list, partying with my friend George Artis II. He’s been throwing parties since I was in college in 2002 at SMU. The parties are all the way live with dope vibes. His parties are in various locations from the Gaslight in Uptown to Sandaga 813. At night, we will hang out, eat, drink and be merry with live bands at The Free Man in Deep Ellum. Walk to another bar for Galaxy 9 Productions’ “Tha Plug” parties with their dope artists like my girl Flower Child, Christie Lux, Shermstx, and Kaution. We’ll dance and have a great time there. We will enjoy the view at my art exhibit on the rooftop of the CANVAS Hotel.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Growing up my mama Virgie Gardner involved the Village to raise and shape me. And I am so grateful for her and for the Village that loved and cared for me. They made me a culturally diverse, free, open, and well-rounded person. My mama pushes me to my higher self and to achieve my goals. I am so grateful to be back home in Dallas to be with her.

My children, Joseph Jr., Frenchaire-Two, Melchizedek Malcolm X, Sarai are my reasons for striving for excellence and working so hard to leave them a legacy. We are separated by space and time now. So I am working diligently, saving funds for the time in the future when my family is reunited. Oh, What a day that will be!

Grateful for a few sistas that encourage, support, edify and admonish me: my cousin Najah (@kajaeecreations) my sista friend Dr. Tamara Pizzoli (@tamarapizzoli), my sista friend YaKima Davis (@blisswithincoaching), and my sista friend Dail Chambers (@dailchambers). They are always transparent and open with me. They inspire me as the courageous fearless businesswomen that they are. Go look them up and support their endeavors. They are the ones that I share my vulnerabilities and weaknesses with. They strengthen and encourage me and I am grateful for them.

There are a group of supporters that support and shop with me no matter what I am selling. LOL!! From selling whipped shea butter, insurance, artwork, to copping the new album Supernova Universe. My People ROCK WITH ME. I have a community and they know who they are.

My sista, Dr. Pizzoli gave me this book titled, “You are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life” by Jen Sincero in 2015 when we were selling her children’s books at the Harlem Book Fair. Once I read it and applied the principles, the book changed my life. Multiple streams of income flowing. Joy and happiness flow. There’s been a beautiful metamorphosis. I am grateful.
