We had the good fortune of connecting with Fredrick Ewelike and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Fredrick, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
By the end of my career, I want three things. First, I want to have created the most successful franchise in filmmaking history. I grew up watching franchises like Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Dragon Ball, and Naruto. Having my own franchise is extremely important for me because franchises are stories that never end. A franchise has the power and ability to both entertain and inspire multiple generations of people. I want to give the next generations of people a beautiful story that they can grow up with.

Secondly, I want to have inspired most filmmakers in the world to create the stories they have always dreamed about. Being an inspiration is important to me. Without the filmmakers I saw as an inspiration growing up, I would not be the filmmaker that I am today. What all the filmmakers who I looked to had in common is that they only created the stories they had always intended to make. They never settled. You will be happier as a filmmaker if you create the stories that your heart desires. Those stories are what keep you creating, so create them now. Life is too short to not be creating the stories you have always dreamed about.

Lastly, I want to be content and truly happy with every project I have ever made. As a filmmaker, I am always my biggest critic. When I create a project that I am truly happy with, It is one of the greatest feelings in the world.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am the Co-Founder of ZebraTail Studios, which is a Production Studio based out of Dallas, Texas. At ZebraTail Studios we specialize in all forms of entertainment like narrative film, documentary film, music video, and commercial production. I am a director, writer, and executive producer for ZebraTail Studios. I recently wrapped production on my most recent film “RECURRENCE”, which was a surreal experience for me and the rest of the ZebraTail Studios family. It was the largest project we have ever worked on. Our motto at ZebraTail Studios is “Set The Standard” and we truly lived up to that motto during that production. We at ZebraTail Studios have made it our goal to set the standard for the next generation of filmmakers. I am extremely proud and blessed to be surrounded by the best team in the world. Honestly, it hasn’t been the smoothest road, but the road is never smooth when you are trying to do what you love. As ZebraTail Studios moves towards larger projects, so many more things are required. More money is required, more crew members are required, more organization is required, and more time is required. If you truly desire something you will make time for it. I love filmmaking with all of my heart and will continue to make films forever.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite restaurant in Dallas is the Woolworth, but I also love just hanging out around Deep Ellum because there are a wide variety places to chill, get drinks, and grab a bite to eat. And if someone is visiting the city during basketball season, I would highly recommend going to a Mavericks game. If you want to make a little drive over to Arlington, you can catch a Cowboys game or Ranger’s game. After that you can go to either Six Flags or Hurricane Harbor. There are so many fun things to do in the. DFW

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to everyone on my ZebraTail Studios team. Shout out to Z.L. Singleton, Nathan Navarrette, Joseph Horta, Julian Enriquez, Bryson Cole, Matthew “14th Shooter” George, Austin Wagner, Julian Bell, D.J. Samuels, and Colin Gillon. With all these amazing individuals, ZebraTail Studios would not be where it is today. I love my ZebraTail family.
