We had the good fortune of connecting with Felicia and Caleb Butler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Felicia and Caleb, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Actually my 7 year son pitched the idea one night while sitting on the sofa. We talked about it. Then I started researching. His desire was to start his lip balm line so he could purchase a “mansion for us”.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a HR Professional (15 years). During the pandemic, I was forced to make some life changes. Now, there are more African American HR representative/ professionals then there were 15 years ago. So of course there were many challenges. I had a very nice lady named Roslyn Fitch who groomed me and taught me a lot about the industry. It took a different level of maturity to overlook certain things. Attitude and gratitude will take you a long way. We would like the world to know anything is possible when you believe. Trust the process. Pray and depend on God. The vision was given to my son when he was 5 years old. And it lit a fire in me to see his drive and ambition. He started making his product in our very own kitchen. All because he wanted a bigger house for us.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Of course, we would visit a few live jazz spots.
