We had the good fortune of connecting with Fela Best and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Fela, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I want people to remember that I never gave up and as long as you live another day it’s never too late.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My professional occupation is a courier for FedEx Express. It has its own particular challenges. I’m also a full time student at Texas Southern University majoring in Radio TV and Film in the School of Communications. I have a story to tell. Here I’m learning HOW to tell stories. Currently in my third term, I have been a back to back President’s List honoree. I recently celebrated my 51st birthday and each day I continue to learn. I want the world to know that it’s never too late.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being a Houston transplant my knowledge is limited concerning this area. I have visited quite a few restaurants with authentic and cozy atmospheres. Wish there were more on this subject.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Two very important women in my life. Upon my release from prison, my grandmother was a strong source of support. She held me just long enough for my wife Rashona to come into my life. My grandmother handed the reins over to Rashona and the support she provides is tremendous! She plays characters in my video projects. Whatever is necessary to help earn my degree.
